1. I was originally booked to stay right on Hindmarsh Square, but it proved to be too posh and I ended up at Light Square. It was a huge difference.

2. Looks like crash test dummies.

5. From there, I strolled around the neighboring streets and into the arcades.

6. Arcades seem to be a common feature in Australian cities, and Adelaide's version looked quite pretty on the outside.

9. I really liked the tile arrangement and colours. It gives a rightfully nostalgic feel to times long gone.

13. Tucked around a corner on the second floor, I found these historic relics celebrating Adelaide's history.

17. This historic pretty much tells the story.

18. Back on the ground floor and heading out to Rundle Mall ...

21. There is another arcade nearby, which was undergoing some renovations. But the arcade seems like it had undergone a facelift. It seemed to give a more modern feel even though the tiles looked nostalgic.

25. I didn't have much reading material with me when I arrived in Adelaide. I'm not sure what is the context behind these pigs but they seem to be popular among photographers.

28. Haven't we all thought of doing this at some point in our lives?

Adelaide feels very laid-back, and with ample time to explore within the city and the surroundings, I felt quite relaxed. If you want to take a look at my full collection, you can visit my website's new Adelaide gallery at :

Lovely arcades! Thanks for the pics.

P.S. Why no 19th century style arcades in Toronto? Did we have some and then junk them, or were they never big here?

29. Continuing with my Adelaide series, it was a beautiful day so I started my walk from Light Square.

32. Although looking serene, I didn't think this was a good part of town though.

33. In a few blocks, the skyscrapers of city centre were very much visible and within reach.

40. It seemed very quiet on this Saturday morning.

44. I walked into the main railway station, which was fairly tidy, although I was a bit surprised there's also a casino on the premises now.

45. Heading out the back doors, I looked around for the river.

50. It looks like a more angular version of the Sydney Opera House.

57. It's nice to have a huge park so close to downtown.

60. This building I quite liked from its multicolour facade.

62. The flight path was also nearby. Imagine sitting on the left side looking at an aerial of the city!

IMG_6965.jpg

63. Upon closer inspection, it was a flight from home ... a Cathay Pacific airplane!
