Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

So what you are saying is that you want NIMBYism to take place, where locals can veto construction in their backyards or veto a cheaper form of construction at the cost of the entire province? Because that's all you are inviting by seeking the 'local opinion'. And if we consistently seek the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

What he is saying is that he wants it to be be built faster than 10 years, he didn't say "within the next 10 years".

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Cut and cover is fine for this project. Intentionally using a tunnel boring machine when we have a cheaper and more sustainable solution is insane, especially when parts will be underground and parts will be elevated. The more you raise the price of the project, the more likely it is to get...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I do not think that cut and cover would mean 'a scaled back version of the project'.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

@T3G Page 27 of the business case does a side by side comparison of the LRT vs current bus lanes that already exist and it shows that they project that the travel times would be similar. Page 29 acknowledges that the overall travel times are modelled to be slower on the LRT compared to the...

2B was the one most people chose there.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I would say yes, because the LRT would have a large cost to build, but the bus wouldn't, roads are already there. And the benefit that the LRT would provide compared to having a bus lane with less stops is marginal at best, so yeah, I'd say changing from subway to buses is okay in the case of...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Why don't we take matters into our own hands and just start digging to get a head start?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'm glad these consultations are happening. However, it doesn't seem as though much progress has been made since the description states "want to hear about how people travel along the Sheppard Avenue corridor today – and how they might benefit from new rapid transit options in the future". I...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

because it's true. We did get the Dollarama portion of the line. A portion that stops at traffic lights, and has extremely long red lights at every intersection. If you drove past it, you'd see. It turns red long before parallel traffic turns red, which is just stupid. And between Victoria Park...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Tbh I'd be fine with either McCowan and Sheppard or Scarborough Town Centre. A one stop subway transfer isn't too bad imo. My only concern at this point is whether they are actually serious about this project to begin with or not, and I'm beginning to think that they might not be.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I sent an email to the Sheppard Extension Metrolinx email asking for updates on the next round of consultations. They haven't responded and it has been more than two weeks. At this point, I'm not even sure that it's being monitored.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I hope they actually aren't considering making this an LRT.... Plus, we haven't heard back from Metrolinx regarding an extension again have we?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Metrolinx is supposed to come out with a second round of consultations in the Spring right? Any thoughts on when these might begin?

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Wasn't the Business Case supposed to be out by yesterday? I'm guessing that either it was delayed, or that they kept it internal.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I appreciate that @T3G and @sixrings actually addressed the points that I made. I am pro-LRT in general, but only if they are done the right way. LRTs throughout many cities in Europe, including Bordeaux do a great job because they get strong signal priority in at grade sections and they tend...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Yeah, but there is no logical equivalency to your example and transit here. An LRT is nothing basically than a fancier streetcar, a marginal improvement from a bus. That's not "in between" walking and subways. And as for "in between" walking and subways, we have something called buses.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

What I'm saying is rather than building two shitty projects, build one good one. At the end of the day, you didn't address a single point I made about LRTs, you haven't been able to justify your point at all. Just because you consider building LRTs 'more transit' doesn't mean it actually...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

And what is the harm in doing that, especially when the alternative is building multi-billion dollar LRTs that are slow, not grade separated, stop at stop lights, and have stop distances less than our Express buses?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

If I were Premier, these would be my next top priority projects in this order: 1. Line 4 East Extension to McCowan and Sheppard 2. Line 4 West Extension to Downsview Park Stn 3. Line 5 Extension to the Airport 4. Hurontario LRT Extension to Brampton GO Station Anyone have any thoughts? I...
