    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 344.9m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I would think the ground in the area is pretty water saturated. I hope they did their homework on the bearing capacity of the soil.

    Toronto 11 YV | 213m | 62s | Metropia | Sweeny &Co

It’ll be the biggest Airbnb in North America - no one will “live” there.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Yah, who needs higher density at the intersection of two major transit lines anyway?

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 344.9m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Careful, you can get in trouble for mentioning the incredibly slow pace of The One.

    Toronto 2180 Yonge | 247m | 65s | Oxford Properties | Hariri Pontarini

Many locations that are already zoned for low rose condos aren’t being developed. If there was money to be had making low rise condos, developers would be all over it.

there's 100,000 people moving to the GTA every year adding to an already difficult housing shortage and yet we seem to be completely against both urban sprawl AND the only alternative - high-rise buildings. What exactly was achieved by cutting 5 floors off the tallest building? It seems to me...

Just curious, it seems to be taking forever for city council to decide on the height increase here. I hope they dont finish before they get an answer.

True, I don't know why we ever gave up on lanterns..

Could be the thing that ultimately destroys our cities. I f I didn't have to live in a 500 sq ft condo to be close to work, I wouldn't. My son now works for a company based in San Francisco - but he works from his home in Kitchener. He used to live in downtown Toronto in a tiny, expensive...

    Toronto Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 299m | 90s | Menkes | a—A

Cost cutting is job #1. We used to call it “the cheapening”. Usually occurs just after approval and before construction.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

I missed a few pages, can anyone tell me if the city granted the additional height Mizrahi requested?

You should always have your contract read by a lawyer. The developer invariably has the right to terminate the contract for any reason. Pre-construction condos are very difficult to conclude and are almost always late on delivery.

Interesting - I’ve never heard of liquid mass damping before.

Interesting design, but I do wonder how well they will handle high wind loads. The angles may make it difficult to shed winds - could to get a lot of sway in these buildings I would imagine.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Personally i find it rather sad. These towers no longer look like a Gehry design, more like another condo tower with a few tweaks to make it look somewhat like a Gehry design but obviously curtailed to make them more affordable for a Toronto developer. There are towers in Mississaiga that...

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Just a curiosity, how long does it take for the city to decide on whether a height increase will or will not be approved? This decision is probably the only thing moving slower than the construction of this building.

I'm not familiar, is that a technical term?

So...a couple of nice parkettes and a shiny plaque? The developers plan cuts the potential park (smaller than Central Park I hear) in half. Id like to think Toronto can dream bigger and discover a way to make it happen. I'm quite surprised to see how many on this forum so willing to throw in...

I think we all know Central Park is bigger - I don't see the need for the comparison - but it only enforces the need for this park. Even built as big as possible it will still be a small park compared to many parks. Just curious, what point were you trying to make, if any?
