This is one of those buildings that only works from far away. It doesn’t look like another glass box, adds a bit of warmth which is all good, but don’t you dare to get close to it… lowest quality materials, messiest spandrel, horrific.
this new station does look like a temporary place holder station… if that’s the plan I believe it fully. So, we are now relying on decades of future redevelopment in which all these developers will be expected to pour millions in section 37 funds to pay for a decent station… sounds like a 20+...
I wouldn’t expect Oxford to be so desperate for money they would rather waste their most prime real estate asset building a small, cheap rental building when they can just wait it out a few more years and end up with a one of a kind ambitious project that trully generates them not only a lot of...
Someone had the right level of ambition when this started. Even if it was just a fantasy vision. That's what we needed to strive for. We often have people with a vision, but they’re most often never able to carry it through and pull it off.
We need collective force and willingness to do great...
I wish they started with the taller tower. But perhaps in another 5-10 years when they decide to build the second tower they also increase the height when the market is better. Would be great to see this design be the tallest in Toronto.
I would rather see this site stay as it is for another decade until the office and condo industry bounces back and have something iconic built then, than build a cheap rental tower now and be stuck with it for generations.
Anyone still hoping for a miracle to happen and Pinnacle decides to cover the mechanical box? It’s such a crime to have the tallest building in Canada expose such a massive mechanical box while the shorter phase 1 had its mechanical box mostly covered.
Tha
thats Not even any of the previous designs proposals, let alone the design of the tower that’s already built. The entire thing is completely different from the building standing today. No actual plans have changed.
Clearly they changed plans and the setback was reduced to less than half.it will be barely noticeable now. Would’ve looked better with the bigger setback.
Yonge st needed this building. Looking great! More of this please. Wish Q tower was something like this so we can have some colour and warmth in our main skyline
