    Hamilton 75 James Condos | 108m | 34s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

I agree it’s a bit of an operational headache compared to using WH and CNs line in general. But, there’s something about the age and history of access to TH&B that precedes much of GO- it feels like they have an implicit commitment to service this station ad infinatum, even if it isn’t on the...

    Hamilton 75 James Condos | 108m | 34s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

Depends how important you think a train station in the heart of downtown Hamilton is. I think it should be quite highly.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Like with all subway projects, there’s always the possibility to go further. The case might not exist today, but there’s always a “relative best option”. As you’ve said, Wilson, imo, is that best option as it’s equidistant from both Finch and Eglinton; E/W demand will grow the greatest...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I won’t pile on too much here, but my point was that there is a chance, and the phasing is the only thing keeping it from happening. I will say that having the same people do the tunnels and stations for the OL is far less likely to cause obvious problems than splitting it up.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

OL before YNSE is essential. In a sense, the work they are doing now on the Ontario Line is what they'd start doing on Yonge anyway. So once OL reaches, say, the tunnel-boring phase (or whatever's next) teams can move over and start work on extending Line 1 with the same kind of early works...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Well... I found the general area where it was being discussed (and what incited me to start replying around this point), but the member has joined us: As for this (1), way ahead of ya... I generally thought what you're saying in 2) made more sense than a 1-3 stop extension. As for 3) not so...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'll look myself for who/when it was stated, as I could shoot tags in the dark at who might've said it, but I don't want to tag anyone needlessly. It might've been a debate I got into, so I'll skim my replies after this. In the meantime, I do recall the general argument; a pessimistic (but...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

So I’m gonna ask what you’ve been hoping someone would: why is consultation happening so far east? The location is the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, which is located at Progress/Sheppard. No previous plan has suggested going past McCowan… and while it’s catchment will be large...

    Hamilton FirstOntario Centre Renovations | ?m | 4s | OVG | BBB

*NHL but I think u had a typo. Now, be that as it may, as far as we know Bettman isn't immortal. And his motif is that he prefers to trade off potent demand in existing ("saturated"?) markets in favour of creating new ones. In a sense, you can't do both, but the endless discussion on SSP...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

I too would like to know why this was the case. For one, it might shed some light on what the TTC thinks wrt streetcar utility. Two, I wonder how quickly this would require a wholesale rethink of how quickly streetcars get around, and how often they stop, to deliver any reasonable kind of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm not going to address the comparison to Line 1 downtown because it's self-evidently apples and steak. We are in the burbs. Still, for Finch, the case is much clearer; demand exists, and the trip generators are in place (straight along Finch). This is all conjecture though; further unlike...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There is a thread for this, but Anyhow,... 27 stops...? No wonder the thing is gonna be slower than the bus. There is no way that many stops are necessary today or in any realistic future. I would not be shocked if an elevated line would be cheaper since It'd have only a third of these.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

This is true to an extent- there are lots of different things that need to be built because we haven’t kept up with infrastructure demand. I empathize with the argument that there is limited time and money; it is worth asking if Sheppard E needs to be prioritized right now. I would not encourage...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I’m somewhat shocked people are calling for a return to the LRT plan, and making this out to be some massively ridiculous idea to build the full Sheppard Subway from Sheppard W to McCowan/STC. I’ll chalk up the lack of existing demand east of VP to the suburban character- rather, it is hard to...

    Canadian Highway Fantasy Thread

The fundamental issue is that we desperately need more than one crosstown 400-series highway, but we can’t have it. In a vacuum the 407 is not a problem; in light of the reality that we have been asking the 401 to do 4 different jobs at once, and that we actually can’t build another proper...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

These do exist at Bloor GO. Noticed it on Saturday. Part of the issue (imo) is low platforms are just too easy to walk across, and the ease of moving from one platform to the next properly is nonexistent- it’s quite slow and painful really. I’m not sure why you’d need to do this in the first...

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Most of these are happening, the government just doesn’t care about communicating because we might not like the exact timelines. Highway 7 for instance has early works beginning, the difference is it’s less of a priority. And please, don’t forget the Hamilton LRT… it’s been in such bad limbo it...

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Not sure if your meaning to reply to my comment, but no, I don’t mean to put the cart before the horse here. It was merely to say that there could be long-term interests in the private sector to see such a thing if a few puzzle pieces come together. I would agree that a highway...

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

While Bolton-Alliston is maybe 60% of Bolton-Union, it quite clearly is not that much of a longer route to Barrie overall. The way I see it is the inverse; this line could pull growth up along it, up to a level of growth comparable to everything north of Richmond Hill (suburban-exurban...), ie...
