    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I did see somewhere that the City of Hamilton's Transportation Department scope for Main Street 2-way is Dundurn to King, so it seems the design scope for West of Dundurn has been handed over to this project. The City of Hamilton section may be staged to happen before or at a similar time to...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'd expect confederation to take more ridership from Burlington as opposed to Aldershot. From East Hamilton and the south shore of the lake(Stoney Creek, Grimsby, etc.), it is faster to cross the skyway and go direct to Burlington rather than West Harbour or Aldershot. Improved service to West...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

A little insight from a Hamilton City Councillor, Sherman Ave in Hamilton is set for a rebuild North of Barton across the tracks. This work is waiting for some signal and crossing upgrades that are scheduled to be done by CN so that work can be properly coordinated. I don't have a firm date, but...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I'd expect HSR to use the old half-mile bridge into the Don Valley and come into Union using the Richmond Hill line tracks. The trains could either terminate at a refurbed platform set at the north end of the station or perhaps a separate terminal just to the east. RH line trains being peak only...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

If I were to guess the Hamilton GO upgrades: Platform refurbishment and installation of platform snow melt system Refurbishment of stairways and platform entries Elevator replacement, potentially a new elevator location General refurbishment of the station building and bringing it up to modern...

    Burlington Canal Lift Bridge Upgrades

Lift bridge is scheduled for a full closure this Thursday (October 10), where they will remove the temporary traffic diversions and convert it back to regular operation (https://www.canada.ca/en/public-services-procurement/news/2024/09/full-closure-of-burlington-canal-lift-bridge.html) Some...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I know the newer GO train platform screens were discussed at some point, but I wanted to bring them back up as I think they are pretty good. For a given platform, they provide the next 2 trains, timing and coach info, service updates, and stop details for the next train. The screen with ads is...

    Burlington Canal Lift Bridge Upgrades

Quick update on this. Approaches are almost complete and still some final prepping and pouring to do, but hopefully should compete this year. Pedestrian approaches were widened, but still need railings installed.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Not too interesting, but they have been surveying all the utilities at Appleby GO. Not sure if this is related to eventually station improvements, electrification, or for investigation work related to eventual level boarding.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Ottawa st/Centre Mall area would make the most sense for an eventual infill station I think. Plenty of land available, and could kick off some redevelopment of the mall.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Only new thing I've seen recently is that they will be relocating a trunk water main on Queenston Road just west of the traffic circle: From the August Public Works Committee meeting minutes: https://pub-hamilton.escribemeetings.com/FileStream.ashx?DocumentId=418155

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

How do EMUs handle running on non-electrified track? We will have a huge amount of that still after electrification, even on mostly electric corridors (LW, Kitchener, LE). Operationally, EMUs will be constrained, while bilevels just need a locomotive swap. EMUs will be beneficial once GO is...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Because they have hundreds of passenger coaches in great condition that they already own, maintain, and use. I'm sure they will eventually move to EMUs once electrification is in place and they need additional trainsets or replacements for old bilevels, but as they transition into...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Could the "New Go Station" actually just be some bad wording for the renovations at Long Branch. With the renovations Long Branch will have new platforms and a new station building, maybe they are saying that is "new". Long term having a station between PC and Long Branch could make sense with...

GTHA Regional Transit Amalgamation Discussion: Superlinx/Subway Upload

Combining services between Oakville and Burlington makes a lot of sense for usability. Oakville already runs multiple routes fairly deep into Burlington, so extending them and combining routes where appropriate will avoid unnecessary transfers. In an ideal world, I'd expect the following...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Some signs of work at West Harbour. Appears that they are clearing the area around the end of the current track in preparation for grading. No signs of rail on site yet, but with the CN yard right there, I can't really distinguish between rail ready for installation and general rail being stored...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I assume this is from the parking structure straight across to the station building with stairs/elevators down the platforms. The only other place a bridge might exist would be over Trafalgar, which is a connection that will be needed eventually to connect to new development, but it seems early...

    Hamilton Confederation GO Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx

I expect the cost of installing the 3rd track increased. I wonder if a third track through some of Hamilton would trigger the need for some grade separations. There is a lot of busy at grade crossings between West Harbour and Confederation

Not the person who you asked but I'm in the area frequently. Area is grades, doesn't look like new signals are installed yet. No track laid yet either.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

I expect the full closures to have some work occuring at Burloak. They are quite busy with utility relocation and grading work to prepare for building the grade separation. I'm not sure if ROW realignment is occuring this year, but I expect they will need full closure for some of the utility...
