oh we had some crane dismantling drama today people. and the sidewalk bridge is finally down on Bloor and some black granite cladding showing. Getting closer to a normal sidewalk experience again after 2 years of Skygrid mess and constricted pedestrian flow

My sense is it would be hard to discern the hat from the street but odd they didn't include a rendering view showing that angle

    Toronto Jarvis & Earl Place | 198.89m | 58s | Originate | Kirkor

I was prompted to post not out of uncomfortableness with density or development but from a consideration of aesthetics and placemaking, sim to what @Northern Light outlined above - didn't mean to sound nimby, esp w the HCD comment. I wanted to put it out there that Earl Place is a kindof a rare...

Point taken. But I'm very not wealthy and I still find them a respite. Don't have to live there to appreciate 'em

Thanks @nothernlight for your kind response to my Earl Street lament. I know that through public input (outcry) a couple floors can get chopped off, massing can transition, or a sliver of a dog pee zone I mean park might get carved out of the site, but what affects my civic well-being (and I...

I've inured myself to the mostly unfortunate effects of these super-scaled developments on pleasantly-scaled Toronto streetscapes I guess: progress, housing etc, but I'm surprised this is the first post here to comment that this development will rudely re-contextualize Earl Street's utterly...

Ummm isn’t bc owners of rental buildings want to avoid the constant maintenance of crap wall systems so they spend a more up front on durable assemblies, while condo developers punt future inevitable maintenance costs onto condo boards and so spec cheap window wall?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

In the "you have one job" category: the east bound Bloor bike path got some streetsweeper action today. The curbs are spotless now that the sludge has been relocated.

    Parks - new & revitalized

It was such an inspired postmodern urban park design (at least it inspired me in Arch school) with lovely, serene spaces layered onto a historical narrative that felt very genius locus for otherwise anodyne Toronto. A couple years ago I toured all my fave 80s/90's pomo parks w similar qualities...

The office was at King East and Berkeley above the ital interiors, Dermot Sweeney would eventually occupy the space.

Thanks @ProjectEnd! I like it too. Didn't know about the movie! The penthouse is really fabulous, with its own greenhouse too. Coincidentally, Wallman Clewes Bergman was the first architecture firm I ever worked at, but I missed working on this project by a year or two, but made up for it by...

    Toronto The Rosedale on Bloor | 185.92m | 55s | Gupta | Arcadis

wind action blew off unsecured metal barriers and other grosser construction debris from the Rosedale on Good Friday. A couple of them hit the terraces of 409 Bloor East and others crashed to the sidewalk, taking down hydro lines. Piece of ply formwork landed way over on the Shelbourne bridge...
