What about HEP? Run HEP off the prime mover? If an F40PH and a GP 40 have 3000hp what makes the F59 superior with the same HP? They should all be able to run L10 consist? Why replace them with newer locomotives with the same HP?

    Can you have both?

I donno if that would fit the cowl unit body. You don't need 4000hp. 3000 is enough for L10 consist. Leave the L12 for the bigger locomotives.

There are partners like Hammond that could work with ONR to provide shuttle service to those smaller communities that the train does not service. I don't know why the province didn't look at those kinds of agreements.

That's what they should have done to protect intersections that are at grade.

Considering that there are no other heavy rail passenger cars certified in North America currently in production, that was the fastest way to get a new fleet up and running. Even for the LD fleet, having to spin up an assembly line for an unproven product is also risky.

So I'm terms of the LD fleet what are the odds that they are going to a different manufacturer requiring different parts and different maintenance facilities? I feel like that alone makes Siemens the default winner of the LD fleet.

Port Carling is not that far from Bracebridge. It's likely not for the whole family to take the train to go to the cottage but rather someone who doesn't have a car taking the train to meet with friends or family who can pick them up at the station.

Taxi from the train station? I'm sure that this will result in more micro transit opportunities in cottage county.

For cottage go'ers the train leaves at 6:10 from Toronto and gets to Huntsville for around 9. That is enough time to finish work at 5:00 on Friday and head downtown and be at Union 30min before departure and be at the cottage around 9. Imagine leaving downtown at 6pm on a Thursday during a...

Didn't someone say that they will be putting new Cummins motors in there?

I don't know what market is left in Canada once the LD fleet is delivered. The polar bear Express probably could benefit from new equipment, but other than that there isn't much left. Let's see how well those made in China bi levels do in Montreal. Good luck lasting 50 years.

The mp54ph is no longer in production. Nor do they build passenger cars So you would have bought cars from Siemens with locomotives from another manufacturer and restart production for only a handful of units. And mishmash them together to make it work. Even go transit is refurbising old...

https://www.trains.com/pro/regulatory/california-governor-signs-bill-banning-resale-of-retired-diesel-rail-equipment/ They don't want their used equipment that pollutes the air to be used elsewhere in the world. They don't understand that any form of public transportation is better than...

It's probably because the buses were ordered with the screens and they arrived before the whole system was rolled out throughout the system. Not everything happens in the order that you want it to.

They should cover the side panels so that there is less exposure to the elements

They are all scrapped. Rapid has one at TMC

They took two VIA simens sets and tested them in the north. They both crapped out and CN had to tow them. Seeing that they added F40'S to the VIA sets it's not looking good.

And they are more of them to go around. Will Siemens be footing the bill for extra fuel and axle costs? Not to mention wear and tear on the F40's when they are supposed to be send in for rebuild. Has anyone seen the "pink" one that was rebuilt?

At least the horn will be quieter for cab car passengers. I guess they didn't learn their lesson about having the prime mover provide tractive effort and HEP.
