    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

We took a nice picture with Chow and the kid at Big on Bloor yesterday. He told her he is learning to ride his bike and would like more bike lanes :) Actually, he didn't, I tried to coach him to do that, but he refused, so I did it while he licked his ice cream cone.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Does $500/psf even cover construction costs now, never mind the cost of land or financing?

The government can always excuse itself from its own regulations and legislation. The government passed all that stuff in the first place! I don't know if I'm blowing up any big secret or something, but the government could just repeal the Environmental Protection Act rather than exempting this...

Yeah, I remember it pretty vividly. Someone gave me a lift home because of the deluge, and we saw Robarts get hit by lightning while stopped at the light at Harbord and St. George. My wife had to walk her bike up Spadina because the edge of the street was a complete river. One of my colleagues...

The days when the biggest problem was an old drainpipe seem so quaint at this point.

Assembly is still doing pretty well. Even on a Friday, when it's pretty dead in the financial district food courts, it's half full. Most days you can't find a table. But when O&B open a food hall at 1 York and immediately close it for the "summer season" that can't be a good omen.

Interesting that the government agreed to stop rather than actually fight it in court. It doesn't seem like a very strong case for the activists. It's just a week until the hearing starts, but could be months to get a decision. That said, it seems they didn't agree to stop work pending the...

    St Lawrence Market

It's one of the few places in Canada where you can legitimately live with kids and without a car. It really is one of the best places to live in Canada.

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

Under current trends, it appears that when those cars appear on the North American market in umber, we will tariff the shit out of them so that people don't buy them.

Like St. Clair, this part of Eglinton is going to seriously thrive once that other streetcar finally opens.

Yes! This was a lot of rain in one day for Toronto, though obviously not the same impact as a real flash flood storm situation like in 2013 (I googled that to check the year, and we just missed the anniversary!).

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

I think the way she handled the budget and tax increase was pretty masterful. Everybody mostly knew Toronto needed higher taxes, and she just came in and did it with no drama.

I rated Option 2 slightly higher, but frankly don't love either of them.

Jarvis is the worst place to cross because of the busy onramps. Parliament is probably the least worst, but still a plod.

    46th Canadian General Election

The "Liberals" in the French example didn't participate in the left-wing coalition. They finished second.

True, though I lived there for years, and crossing under the tracks and the Gardiner doubles how long it feels.

Well, people are going to have to bike, since they certainly aren't going to be able to take transit anywhere fast.

I think all of the towers are at least partly occupied.

The thing is, if you design and install a slide that will injure people because of its design, all the waivers in the world aren't going to help you if someone gets hurt on it.
