Seems it follows the REM A40 alignment too.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

I'm walking distance of the VIA station, which is in town which is more accessible than the Ottawa station... There are plans to triple the population here with ten storey towers near the train station. So might be even densier than in Ottawa unironically.

You're way off. I never owned a car and rely uniquely on transit and Tremblay location has always been horrible as others said with no walking services close by.

Côte de liesse in Montréal is in the middle of nowhere and it's similar number of stops. Sure bud.

China trains are good for that, you order food for station delivery on your train.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Signs that the Montréal station will not be downtown, that's what I meant. We'll see in a few minutes. Ottawa station is really nowhere though.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Going quickly to nowhere brings you quickly to nowhere. Will wait for further announcements but doesn't look good so far. Plus if my train is cancelled due to HSR I'll be pissed to no end. I depend on my rural train to commute to work.

    VIA Rail

It is and is greatly against my values and pisses me off. We're seeing what these land acknowledgments end up doing in BC.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

There many people working in Montréal and Ottawa as it's a quick and easy trip by train. The official plan even has ten storey towers and the province paid tens of millions for additional water and waste manangement capacity to handle such volume.

    VIA Rail

Well just from this paragraph I guess, from ALTO's website.

    VIA Rail

Wasn't that the plan in the first place? With all the negative feedback VIA received by having a through train to Toronto in the morning bypassing many cities, there's not much social approval to reduce service.

The Crosstown is called a métro léger in French on signs though.

Deux-Montagnes branch of the REM opens on November 17th as per CDPQi.

    Montréal Transit Developments

It's not really a subsidy, ARTM are paying the CDPQi for the service rendered, same as other transit agencies. Just the cost paid is not the same depending on the kind of service. For the REM and some metro lines, a profit is technically made running the service (will be soon for the REM even...

For the party that had the REM de l'Est cancelled they can dream of more biking lanes, it will never happen.

    Montréal Transit Developments

I've never seen so many people downtown Montréal and that includes prepandemic. It's packed. Thing is transit agencies don't have funding needed and every user added, well it's additional costs (besides the REM which makes money on its user base). I know a lot of you folks don't like the REM...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Costs per user per km for EXO trains are about 5x per km than the REM (and REM includes infra costs). I wouldn't be surprised if EXO is shut down entirely, especially for the Vaudreuil line as it's so close to future REM stations. I know the ARTM had this under study.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

My town will triple in population in 4 years so it would def be a way to urbanize rural areas.
