I live very close to this site, and lately I've been hearing brief but loud jack hammering in the middle of the night; often around 3am-4:30am. It sounds a lot like the jack hammering truck that would start up in the Skytower pit every morning at 7am. But that truck is gone now, and they never...

Interesting, thanks for the response. I saw them jackhammering the caisson wall, so that made sense. Just wasn't sure about the rest of the site. I didn't realise the fill material only went down a couple floors. I imagine excavation would be much quicker if they could just dig with the excavators.

Loblaws Redevelopment (10 Lower Jarvis Street, Choice Properties REIT, ?s, ?)

They just finished renovating the store from top to bottom. It would be surprising to see it get redeveloped so soon after a complete overhaul of the interior.

Does anyone know why they are doing so much jackhammering in the new pit? Isn't all the dirt "off site fill" from when they filled in the lake? I don't remember them doing daily all-day jackhammering in the previous pit, which I would expect to be the same type of dirt.

I'd like to know this too because that Loblaws is huge. I love shopping there. Anyone know when it's supposed to be redeveloped?

The diagrams and maps show Harbour Street being extended right to Jarvis, through the existing Loblaws building. Is that actually the case? What's going to happen to that Loblaws?

Thanks, this is the type of response I was actually looking for. The first hole they dug was much bigger than what it looks like they're starting now with this drilling. It seems like it might not take as long as the first one? I'm also curious as to how they do the overlapping holes. I can see...

Exactly. Thanks for this. So instead of 7am to 1pm they could do 9am to 3pm and still be within regular hours.

Does anyone know the reason as to why the loud drilling truck has to start at 7:15am each day? They're usually there for 6-7 hours as they stop shortly after lunch. Why wouldn't they push the start time to 9 or 10am? It's not even the drilling that's the loud part, it's when they shake the soil...

Awesome, that helps! I always thought there was concrete on both the floor and ceiling but I guess not? It's funny how he guides it through his legs. :)

What is the process for pouring concrete between, or on, the steel floors?

Does anyone know what they are doing in the small area north of 18 Yonge Street, against the rail yard? They've dug deep in that area too, but it's very small and extends to Yonge Street. It doesn't seem like they can do much there, but I'm curious as to what their plan is.

Thanks for the response. I didn't realise how much you can hear from your side of the complex. All we can hear is the Gardiner, and sometimes the trains. Those vacuum trucks, though, are on a different level. Thankfully they just finished up on our side! Btw your updates in this thread are...

It looks like you live in the Pinnacle Centre. What's the overall noise been like? Is it pretty bad? I live in Pinnacle too, but facing east on Yonge. I'm worried about the noise in the upcoming One Yonge project.
