    Toronto 5 Huntley | 209.2m | 63s | EHLP | Turner Fleischer

If we were gaining more than we were losing from this proposal, then I might be convinced of its merits. But is the demolition of several charming, albeit not particularly architecturally significant, homes and the resultant scarring to a beautiful treelined street with an intact terrace of...

    Toronto 50 Eglinton West | 194.2m | 58s | Madison Group | AUDAX

When is Toronto going to up its game? Aside from a handful of outstanding examples, including 'The One and 'Forma', this city seems determined to become the posterchild for mediocrity.

    515 & 519 Jarvis (Keg Mansion)

I know it's only a matter of time before redevelopment comes to these two buildings, but I'll admit to taking a deep breath whenever I hear or read about it. Jarvis St. is the closest thing Toronto ever had to NYC's 'Gilded Era' 5th Ave. mansions, and I fear that ours are going to end up the...

    Toronto 19 Bloor West | 317.4m | 99s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

I can't help thinking that having two supertalls so close to one another really does little to boost Toronto's image as a 'vertical' city, but it certainly makes it look like a poorly planned one.

    Toronto 110 Adelaide Street East | 217.6m | 65s | Stafford | Arcadis

I've never been a huge fan of One Bloor East, but at least its podium seems better integrated into the overall design. So for originality, they certainly get an 'F', and for a podium incongruous with its tower and environs, again they get an 'F'. But for forcing us to see this thing forever...

    Toronto 110 Adelaide Street East | 217.6m | 65s | Stafford | Arcadis

I'm deeply offended that Arcadis would even contemplate dropping this turd at the foot of one of our most beloved parks!

    I couldn't agree more!

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Frankly, I don't find them terribly attractive either but they do reflect a period in Avenue Road's evolution, and if they can be preserved whole or in part, then I'm all for it!

    Toronto 126 Avenue | 40.07m | 11s | Taheri | Icon

It sometimes amazes me how far the heritage protection pendulum has swung in recent years. We've gone from the early 1970s, when the 'Temple Building' and the 'Toronto Star Building' were unceremoniously demolished, to the present, where relatively non-descript, lowrise commercial structures...

Toronto Sherbourne Common, Canada's Sugar Beach, and the Water's Edge Promenade | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | Teeple Architects

Terrific to see T.O. will have Lozano-Hemmer's first permanent Canadian piece! I can already see the 'Unfinished Arch' inspiring a new generation of Leaning Tower of Pisa-esque selfie-takers! Yet another icon is born!

    Toronto 19 Bloor West | 317.4m | 99s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

Perhaps, but luck and a prayer rarely make for good urban planning.

    Toronto 19 Bloor West | 317.4m | 99s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

This is a gut punch to anyone who bought suites on the west side of 'The One' with the expectation of spectacular sunset views, but it works both ways. Why would Reserve want to handicap almost 50% of their own sales by building so close to two existing towers?

Toronto Bathurst Quay Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Kearns Mancini

Alright, I'll admit there was a time when I couldn't wait for these silos to be pulled down, but man...they do look spectacular! The curiosity factor alone will be a huge draw for a revitalised Bathurst Quay. I can even see them competing with the CN Tower, Skydome and TD Terrace for...

Send them back to the drawing board until they can come up with a plan to keep the house.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

They did something similar to the remains of Berlin's historic Hotel Esplanade(along with its Kaisersaal), one of the few buildings around Potsdamer Platz to survive the war and that city's post-war division. When the area was reconstructed after re-unification, they disassembled the building...

    Toronto 68 Wellesley Street East | 91.9m | 28s | KingSett Capital | BDP Quadrangle

I'm sure they'll do a very competent restoration of the building's heritage exterior...it's the loss of 'texture', and the exorbitantly high rents that will likely result in driving away all but chain store retail and banks, that concerns me.

    Toronto 68 Wellesley Street East | 91.9m | 28s | KingSett Capital | BDP Quadrangle

...and the 'March of the Towers' continues. I'm already grieving the gradual loss of this vibrant community as the seemingly unstoppable gentrification process moves forward,

    Toronto 505 University | 212.89m | 64s | Cartareal Corp | BDP Quadrangle

This is the preservation equivalent of cramming for that Monday morning final on Sunday night. Yeah, it's a bit late, but as the saying goes...better late than never. Though 'demolition by neglect' is likely not a scenario for this building in this location, designation under the OHA is hardly a...

    Toronto Hudson's Bay Centre Renovations | 32.87m | 6s | Brookfield | Adamson

At the risk of sounding like a broken record...here I go again. Earlier, I had suggested that instead of locating the proposed 'Museum of Toronto' at Old City Hall, they instead consider the vacant Eatons/Norstroms department store at the north end of the Eaton Centre. It now seems that...
