Looks great! Too bad it will probably be value engineered into another boring rectangle covered back painted glass spandrel.

    Distillery District

And they sure aren't helped by that ugly pink thing under construction just north of it. That said, there are still the two heritage buildings to the north of Mill St, and the whole parking lot to the south that can be Distillery Districtized.

I’m not saying Uber isn’t a huge problem for traffic in the area, but what you say about people not taking public transit there is so incorrect it’s crazy. The streetcars are absolutely PACKED with people heading to the Distillery, and foot traffic along the Esplanade from Union to the...

    Toronto Bike Share

I ride bike share daily, mostly for fresh air as I work from home, so no commuting. I'd totally spend some time riding bikes from full racks to empty ones if there was an incentive or it was gamified in the app. Thats basically what I do for my daily exercise on my own anyways!

A much better solution to rebalancing is a program which rewards people for riding bikes from full racks and docking them into empty ones.

    Toronto Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman

The neighbourhood has many condos that fit in with, and make up the existing built form; so your statement doesn't really make any sense at all to me. 222 The Esplanade, 65 Scadding, 138 Princess, 160 Frederick, 135 George, and 109 Front St E are just a few examples of condos within a couple...

Exactly. I remember some in this thread claiming that Time and Space was getting hate from the locals because we hate all new builds, but the universal praise and acclaim for The Whitfield just across the street shows that's not the case at all.

So plans for that site have gone from it being an extension of David Crombie Park, to being a Library, to being a Library with apartments on top, to now likely just being apartments with retail below now. Crazy.

The red elevators really stand out at night on the Jarvis side. It’s a real shame they didn’t paint the ventilation pipes red as was originally designed and approved. It would have added a nice splash of colour to the Market street side.

They should make a heritage plaque for it that includes how many years of delay it caused in the construction of the North Market.

They were hoping to have a daycare occupy the retail space on the southwest corner, and left an area around the courtyard entrance to that space without seating in hopes that a fenced in area could be built for the kids. But seeing as how they haven’t even been able to attract an A&W or a...

Toronto St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

That bank of elevators in frosted glass with the ugly "92" vinyl numbers on the outside really ruins the sightlines both east and west along front street. Unfortunate they couldn't have just incorporated them into the building instead of jutting out the front of it.

The best amenity at Time and Space will be its view of the Whitfield.

If Doug wont let us put bike lanes on Parliament as planned, a bike path connection on Berkley could be a good alternative between The Esplanade and Carlton.

Tinted concrete precast is not exactly immune to becoming grimy. Have a look at the tinted precast on 65 Scadding. 222 The Esplanade was similarly grimy and looks MUCH better now with a fresh coat of paint. Paint finishes have come a long way in recent years.

I'd love to see Berkley reconnected, as a pedestrian and cyclist it's already connected for me. I don't think there's enough of a gap between the 2 buildings to connect it for cars though.

Yes good point. Since I will only ever see it from the street, I’m speaking selfishly from an aesthetic perspective. I can think of one that has red coloured balcony ceilings at Dundas and Jarvis, but not any painted black off the top of my head.

    Toronto The Whitfield | 130m | 39s | Menkes | Giannone Petricone

I wish they opted to paint the balcony ceilings black. It would better accentuate the red curve. This way accentuates the boxyness of the building. I guess it’s a design choice, but not the one I would have made.

Can someone who lives there take a picture of the hallways that stretch the entire length of the block? Sounds absolutely insane. I know Aqualina has really long hallways too, but they broke them up with some jogs so you can't see from one end of the building to the other.

    St Lawrence Market

Wow wasn’t expecting this. They’re repaving The Esplanade between Berkeley and Princess. I thought this wouldn’t happen until they construct new properly integrated permanent bike lanes. Do they plan on tearing this up again next year to add bike lanes?
