Just a guess here, but I think he may have been referring to the northwest corner, which just changed hands.

    Toronto RBC WaterPark Place III | 140.2m | 30s | Oxford Properties | WZMH

The weight of the buildings keeps them anchored onto bedrock. The problem with a hollow tunnel is it will actually want to float to the surface if it's underwater. It would need to be anchored to the bedrock, which would be very expensive.

479 Danforth Ave (@Logan, Symmetry Construction, 4s, Anna Voineskos Architects) COMPLETE

It looks a bit weird, but to be honest I prefer it to the new LCBO and Shoppers accross the street. Nothing against booze and drugs, but those things are more problematic to me as stand-alone mini-boxes. At least this project is mixed-use and has a narrow frontage.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Didn't the City also cap density at 3.5x along the Sheppard corridor versus the 5.0x planned?

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

I'm very surprised this is being built on spec.. I don't believe any of the recent towers have been built without a major tenant (RBC, Bay-Adelaide West, Telus, PWC, etc.). Either it's a good sign (there's so much demand for small leases the risk is worth it) or a bad sign (office market is as...

    Toronto 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

The site isn't zoned, it will be out of the running for any new tennant. CF has a zoned site at ICE that would come first. The pattern downtown is the big owners like to have one site zoned at any given time in order to respond to proposals from tennants. If the ICE tower goes ahead I would...

    Toronto Union Park | 303.26m | 58s | Oxford Properties | Pelli Clarke Pelli

Eh? So every other business in the City is run for the benefit of the people and a casino is run for the benefit of Evil Inc.? I'm lost as to how a restaurant at a casino would take away jobs from a restaurant near a casino. I wish gambling was on Vaughan's list of fun things to do...

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

I think this project was under 'juridstiction' of the waterfront design review panel, which has different members than the DRP. If I recall Kuwabara is leading it.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This strikes me as Metrolinx trying to give itself another reason to exist. Ideally they would've financed, planned, and built the region's transit upgrades but they've lost the financing and planning jobs so they're trying to get into local operations.

Won't it also ruin their view of the expressway? I love how CBC will rush to cover any local news provided a) someone phones them and gives them the idea and, b) it's within a 5 minute drive of their broadcast centre.

Milton: School bans parents from driving kids to school

I agree that our multitude of school systems is a large part of the problem. That's what makes it tough to solve. If someone wants to take on the Catholic Church (separate schools), Quebec (French Immersion), and b'nai brith (Jewish private) at the same time I'd love to watch. This would...

Milton: School bans parents from driving kids to school

I'm sorry, but if someone can't understand that sign then maybe they're not ready for the complexities of urban driving. I agree though, this walk-to-school thing is an issue. Tough one to solve.

    OneCity Plan

I'm happy that the City is having a real debate about transit funding. Squabbling aside, this debate is a necessary first step if transit is ever going to improve in the City. What I'm really disappointed by is the lack of leadership from Metrolinx. Every single important issue here (paying...

    Toronto Panda Condominiums | 107.59m | 30s | Lifetime | Turner Fleischer

I didn't mean the condo entrance should be from Yonge (it shouldn't). But if this were to have significant retail it would make sens for the retail entrance to be from Yonge even if it were just to lead to the bulk of the retail that would be located in the bookstore site. I don't have...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, which is kind of like a park, is locked at night. I've had to hop a fence to get out.

    Toronto Panda Condominiums | 107.59m | 30s | Lifetime | Turner Fleischer

The floorplate will be attractive for Aura-style big box + condo developments but it won't be a great retail site unless they buy enough property to get Yonge Street frontage (which isn't cheap). Also, the City considers this site a missing link in the PATH network, so a developer may be on...

Bayview and Sheppard: Toronto's most congested intersections

The main issue is the poximity of the 401 to Sheppard. Bad things happen when you put highways too close to arterial roads (i.e. can't develop parrallel service roads) which is why most 400-series highways split concessions down the middle. There are solutions to the problem that may help...

    New Transit Funding Sources

My God, Hazel should be prohibitted by law from complaining about congestion. Don't give her too much credit. She's a wise (if hyprocritical) woman. She knows somethings coming funding-wise and wants to be sure her suburb pays the lowest possible share. Watch for her to be for a sales tax...

    Office Development Rundown

I guess what could happen is market forces could drive people further from where they want to be. Lately all of the office developments have been within around 500 metres from Union Station and on the PATH. Once these sites dry up this could stretch to 600-700 metres (which would add sites...

    Office Development Rundown

Thanks for putting this together, it looks like you've caught everything. I think the CBC building is looking to lease office space as well, but I'm not sure of it's status. There's some other rumours out there but they're too early to have any specifics. It makes you wonder though, with...
