GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

We should get an update from Metrolinx to Toronto City Council in the next month or so on whether they’re sticking to the summer 2026 deadline communicated last year.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I was coming from the perspective of net-new service additions without thinking about lower service on the Lakeshore lines since the pandemic. An additional 1-2 trains per day for each of the Kitchener, Milton, RH and Stouffville lines every six months would be welcome.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Given the lack of progress I’ve experienced on the Stouffville line since I started using it in 2022 I’ll take every incremental win, especially on service levels after OOI fell apart. If every April/September service change adds 1-2 trains per day (even 1 each direction) across each train line...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It’s nice to see Metrolinx immediately adding service after bringing the second track online between Agincourt and Kennedy in early July.

To my layman‘s eyes the choke point will be between USRC and the bridge over Eastern Ave/East Harbour station. I do not see how a third track can fit here until the berm is widened. At the current pace for constructing the new retaining wall, new bridges and berm widening I expect there to be...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I just passed the equipment on my commute home. I wrote my reply too early! Perhaps overnight work can be done for Milliken station rather than requiring a weekend closure given there isn’t one scheduled until November.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I didn’t see any new track laid this morning. I’m unsure if it’s a cognitive bias where I’m looking for changes that didn’t actually occur, but ballast north of Milliken station is a different colour (light vs. dark grey). Perhaps there was some preparatory work done ahead of the November...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I ended up going into the office today. I'll provide some more context on Paul's update following the Stouffville line's upgrades. Heading south from Agincourt station you switch from the western track to the eastern track immediately following the West Highland Creek bridge. This used to occur...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

There was no construction this weekend. It’s next weekend.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The average rider is not going to notice new track. As crs said prior, it's about connecting existing double track into service. If I don't see an update between now and July 8, I'll keep an eye out the window on my morning commute and write an update here. The first thing to look for will be...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

If this occurs as expected I wonder what construction will occur July 5-6?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The GO Expansion update to Toronto city council in November 2024 said it would be done summer 2026. A Reddit comment from a few weeks ago suggested when work began on the bridge it was negatively impairing the freight rail bridge above it, so all work stopped a few years ago.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

If reaper is correct, the construction should be a bit further south of Agincourt station starting around the former Ellesmere SRT station south to Kennedy. If the diversion track was converted to a fully operation double track you’d see it just north of Kennedy to just south of Ellesmere SRT...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Hey now…that elm tree at the end of the Stouffville line is a beauty. 😅

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

For whatever it’s worth, the fourth track bridge over Woodbine is complete along with ballast laid.

Could you walk me through the logic you used to arrive on track installation between Kennedy and Agincourt vs. Agincourt and Unionville? It doesn’t seem intuitive to me, but you’re the local timetable expert.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Equipment has also been stored on the diversion track near the former Lawrence SRT station since mid-May. Reading between the lines on the service adjustment I am hopeful new track, and not just enabling works, will be done between Unionville and Agincourt stations. The dream outcome would be...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

In the latest LSE Corridor Construction Update https://assets.metrolinx.com/image/upload/Images/Metrolinx/Ontario%20Line/JC_LSE_Early_Works_CLC_Meeting_May8_2025_Final.pdf 2025 Construction Look Ahead slide There is no mention of the Eastern bridge. The Queen bridge will be fully removed by...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The next construction closure on the Stouffville line is not until June 21-22 (and again on July 5-6), but equipment is being stored on the unused double track next to the former Lawrence East RT station. If we're lucky all of the signaling work completed between Kennedy and Agincourt in 2024...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The cynic in me thinks Metrolinx won’t even begin preparatory work on Kennedy to the LSE corridor until all of the remaining bridgework needed for LSE to be quad tracked to the Scarborough junction is completed. It’s still not public on how they intend to double track that section either. Will...
