    Unions!

GM would still be in trouble even if the Union had agreed to work for free. The only reason the vote hinged on it because the Republican senator are ideologically anti-union. It makes more sense to blame Republican senators who place ideology over saving their country.

    Pic of the Day

I agree with the reference link idea. Also, it'd be nice to have a pic of the day archive. For expanding the image, instead of a popup, can you do one of those javascript light-box dealies? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightbox_(JavaScript) )

    Architecture Junkies

I grew up in New Delhi, which has a lot of different types of architecture, so I was always aware of architecture. However, I never grasped the concept and act of planning and designing until I visited Chandigarh, which is an entire city designed by Le Corbusier. Speaking of which, here's a nice...

    Toronto's Second Supertall?

 Yuck! That building looks so bloated and obese, and so not Toronto. It's worse than puke-worthy. I don't believe in supertalls (I never used high-density zones in my SimCities because they cause a lot of bottlenecks and congestion), but given this exercise, I'd like to see how Gehry...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Mmm... sextacular! I like the Union Plaza at the south end. It will be another city-square, and it will provide an added avenue to Skydome, not to mention rest of the south-side. Questions: - Does anyone know about platform/track utilization at Union? Are all of them used at the same time, or...

    I get on the TTC...

Damn it, I came here to post this. They show express just the right mix of love and disappointment. These guys should be invited for the next Transit Camp or conference dealie.

Toronto's graffiti makes for poor behaviour

Another article about this from The Economist: http://www.economist.com/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12630201&CFID=31056247&CFTOKEN=41038121 I forget where I first read about the Broken Windows theory. Has Malcolm Gladwell ever talked about it?

Top 5 Spots on a Subway

I like 1 and 2 as well. Apart from the reasons already mentioned, I like those because there's very little likelihood that you'll have to give your seat up. :) While comfortable, I don't like the seats next to the doors because some people stand with their asses squeezed against the glass.

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

I'm still not sold on the games (because of its decentralized nature), but the logo, video and website are very well done. I noticed that they used the Obama font (Gotham). :) If it is going to be so decentralized, I'd rather have most of the non-Toronto events in Hamilton. Then a frequent...

    Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

Nice. I was walking past it one day and didn't think much of it since I'm sort of used to it. This tourist was standing there just looking at it. After staring for some time, he said, "damn, looks like a f'kin spaceship landed!"

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Me likey. I like that it looks different, but not too different from T1. I also see that the door slide inside. The older rendering have them sliding outside like the Shenzen design.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Wow, good for Hamilton. I've only seen Main St. once; it seemed empty and wide enough to accommodate a LRT lines. Screw these suburban councillors!

    New Toronto-Rochester Hovercraft Proposed

Wow, looks great, at least on paper. How do they plan on doing it faster though, wasn't the ferry slow because of a speed-limit?

    Shabby Toronto

Bah, people are overly critical of Toronto. Overhead wires exist in European cities as well. Wood is a great material for hydro poles. It looks better than concrete as well. However, it could be made to look better. I think that Hipster_Duck hit the nail on the head with his aesthetic...
