GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Hmmmmm… to me this Adrian dude has a (possibly excessively expressed) point. If there are some hazard announcements then people should be able to rely on warnings before all similar hazards. GO should get itself a better system integrated with signalling and not just dispatch, or just have...

    VIA Rail

As a replacement for the current LD fleet maybe but I would use a sharper pencil. Each variant means smaller runs for each and a smaller pool to absorb collision or other long term maintenance absence, and being a single fleet should mean no need for transition cars (and if any are needed during...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Lots of people sue lots of people. Look at what going on with Crosstown and now Finch West. Issuance of a statement of claim does not mean victory nor does it even mean what is in is true, or that at a hearing they will press it in all respects. I favour keeping the airport open and building...

Fought it how? The Ontario courts have made it clear, and recently, that what the province says goes where municipalities are concerned.

Nine configs seems like a lot. Will be interesting to see who gets tapped to produce them, and whether they are interoperable with existing cars during ramp up.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

And as often as people post this, I will remind that Daley was found to have misappropriated O’Hare money to do the work which the City had to repay, that parked aircraft were stranded, and the FAA fined Chicago the max it could for closing the airport without prior notification (small amount)...

    VIA Rail

By the time 2035 rolls around VIA may have 3 more Siemens sets whose three cars can handle Sarnia and the like, and freeing up 3x5 car sets for increased frequency to reduce the need for 6+ car sets…

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Buy Exo’s 20 ALP-45DPs to launch, and order a bunch of ALP-46s for wider rollout, come on let’s go :D

Presumably, with Doug Ford in office, the City needs to be mindful of the limit it can drag its feet before QP starts legislating away ownership and so forth. After Therme, who can say what they wouldn’t do.

Future UT: ‘I know this crayon map seems crazy, but I don’t think it’s “Sabrina Carpenter on a Miway bus” crazy’

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Doesn’t seem likely they will be in any hurry to build a diamond when there is a chance public money might one day build it for them.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

3-4x Timmins and 7x North Bay would work for me. But North Bay only 3-4x seems dopey.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

The events in the U.S. this weekend should give pause in considering what can and should be constructed on lands that storms have caused fundamental change to, and therefore the cost to flood proof same to be included in the base infrastructure specification before anything is constructed and...

    Toronto 1500 Bayview | 32.09m | 8s | Medallion | BDP Quadrangle

A lighting outlet has take.n up residence in the Valumart - presumably content to take a lease on the understanding that it is relatively short term.

Can't be one until TTC announces they are in their 3 month assumption period, no?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Heritage like Toronto Union Station with its 2/3 of the bush sheds and a sunroof. I care about moving people quickly and in facilities that are properly accessible, not about station buildings with weirdly outsize roofs.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Given the steepness of the incline to the top of the hill past the tracks, and down again to Lawrence, I predict any extension to go under, not over. My kid goes to Don Mills Middle School so while I am not conversant with any geological, hydrological or utility impediment to a tunnel which...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Or the “heritage” station could simply be demolished and the north track expedited by all means necessary. In the rapidly transforming Brampton centre it will surely be an afterthought where the same building in a village flag stop would be notable. But then, who could trust Metrolinx to build...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

To be clear - this is either a choice by Hamilton or someone speaking out of turn. Finch West and Eglinton on surface are NOT moving at the speed of the adjoining roads. Those street limits are 50km/h, and Council passed specific bylaws to permit Crosstown and Finch West to operate 10km/h...
