    The Coming Disruption of Transport

On that note, lets take a look at the growth curve of e-scooters vs ride hailing, car sharing and bike sharing: It's not hard to see what a transformation this could trigger in our cities if this growth is sustainable. And frankly, Toronto is in a better position than most cities to adopt this...

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

Totally agree with your concerns. However, I hope the government doesn't over-regulate these vehicles. E-mobility devices can come in a huge range of forms. We should allow a certain degree of experimentation to see what's best. I'm really excited to see what weird and whacky personal mobility...

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

Recent investments in separated cycling lanes paved the way for e-mobility devices to take off. Now those new e-mobility commuters will put more pressure on the city to build separated cycling infrastructure. This will in turn encourage more people to adopt e-mobility and cycling. We're in the...

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

After months of sky-high gas prices, e-scooters cruise to popularity in Toronto The City is gonna continue to pretend they have the power to ban these things, until the situation on our roads becomes untenable. Sticking their heads in the sand, just like the did during the rise of ridesharing...

    Toronto 214-230 Sherbourne | 150.55m | 46s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

Wow, Toronto has had some really nice architecture proposed as of late. Even modest proposals like this are often quite nice. 😍

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

Excuse me for stating what is perhaps obvious, but I've come to believe that we're in the very early days of a decades-long transition away from the car and towards personal electric vehicles. E-bikes are now outselling electric/hybrid cars in the USA, and the global sales continue to take off...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The raised cycle and pedestrian crossings are what really excites me here (see second pic). I don't recall any other intersections in the city getting this protection treatment. Is this a first for Toronto?

    Queen's Park North Revitalization

Something needs to be done about the institutional culture of excuse making

Really appreciate your attention to detail. I don't know how you keep track of all this information

    Toronto 425 Bloor West | 105.4m | 30s | The Brown Group | Arcadis

There are so many small little grocery/convenience stores along that section of Bloor Street, that I hardly ever needed to visit one of the big supermarket chains. PAT (the big Korean grocer) was a favourite of mine. I'll be sad to see that inevitably get redeveloped.

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

The RapidTO corridors will be studied over 10 years, but implementation will begin on the corridors as soon as the design for that particular corridor is complete. So I’d imagine we’d see one or two roads a year get upgraded. I hope.

    Yea. Boo hoo, union!

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

There's a group of about 20 kids in my town that bike 3 miles to school every day from their neighborhood. It started during the pandemic and has continued. They've apparently designated "nurses" with bandaids and "mechanics" to help put chains back on. I'd like to see Bikeshare Toronto make a...

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

It’s so incredibly frustrating how easy some of these suggested measures would be to implement.

What do you suggest are the most effective ways to get engaged with the process?

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

I'd argue that in virtually all other forms of engineering, our risk tolerance are reflections of our technological capabilities at the time. We now have the technologies to make buildings, electronics, planes and all kinds of other wonders that don't kill their users, and for that reason, we...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Every single person that dies on our roads is someone that might've started a new business, improved their community or otherwise do something to make this world better. And when they die, so does all that potential. And for what? So another 10 cars can make a right turn per hour? It's...
