GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

But they're renaming the one which is actually different from the others. We're moving in the wrong direction...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

And what has the unreliability of the Crosstown that you so accurately foresee got to do with the Ontario line? Oh, right, nothing.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

You can think whatever you want about the design of the project, but it would be nice if you could do us the courtesy of starting your own Crosstown hate echo chamber Reddit community so that those of us who are looking for actual news and facts and don't care to read this nonsense can filter...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Not happening. Not ever. Please find a new dead horse to flog.

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

Don't worry, we'll all be teleporting around everywhere by then.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I have many years of experience having to interact with CVORs as part of my job and this doesn't seem like a safe assumption at all. A lot of those guys are highly deficient in intellect fully sober.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Is the situation really that bad in the trucking industry that their only requirements are that the person has to have a pulse? This is getting really out of hand. When is someone going to come down on these troglodytes for continuously hiring people that put the general public in danger?

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

That car isn't refurbished, it's one of the 7 or so units that were retained for use as cab cars after the rest were converted to mid-train coaches. The car is only around 11 years old.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

While the idea of decarbonization might be sound on paper, this is exactly one of those feel good populist motions that is completely disconnected from reality. If California blocks sales of used equipment to economically disadvantaged states, what exactly do they think is going to happen - that...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

This is a very strange stipulation, and it brings up an interesting discussion of government jurisdiction and overreach. Economics aside: what if GO did NOT make the locomotives T4 compliant? Would Metrolink be fined? What possible mechanism exists for Metrolink to enforce a condition of sale...

    Distillery District

I think that the popularity of this event, and the Distillery generally, shows how starved we are in Toronto for pedestrian only communal areas. We can only dream of any new development in the city that matches something like Village Square in Burlington, even if the latter is too small and...

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

What are we seeing on the pictures from Line 6 that they don't have on Line 5? Both sets of photos are pointing to different types of signage, except for the sign pointing to the "Eglinton"/ "Finch West" line. The only difference I can see is that the symbol for 5 vs 6 is different.

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

Line 1 is a freak case. I'm not really sure what the answer is, honestly... having two platforms at Union both labelled as northbound is hardly a solution, but if I'm a visitor to the city I do not think very much that merely seeing Finch and Vaughan would help me either. It also doesn't help...

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

If you are new to NYC and unfamiliar with its geography, I doubt the direction of uptown/downtown (or inbound/outbound) is something you'd be any more familiar with than north/south. All 3 are examples of something you'd need to be familiar with a map of the city to understand. Why phase it...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

That proposed pyramid is truly appalling. We dodged one hell of a bullet by not having that get built. Jesus.

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

What, since when does Ford have a moral problem with drugs?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I agree with all of this but ... which Toronto Viaduct? Not the Prince Edward? That only took 5 years to build after being approved ... not a staggeringly short time frame, but it doesn't seem like THAT long. The Brooklyn Bridge took 13 to build, the Manhattan Bridge 8, the Williamsburg Bridge...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Even if Metrolinx ceased to be an organ of the province, even if they were considered quasi competent, it would still be detrimental to roll local transit into it. This is the very principle of decentralization. Large, monolithic entities that have jurisdiction over a large area just simply...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Really getting the feeling that this was a very strong investment for Toronto's future.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Perhaps we can arrange a carpool from the last day of the ION cars right into Toronto for the Crosstown's opening day!
