That was meant to be funny. Humour, you know?

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

How is the walk longer if the width of the corridor is still the same? The two extra car lanes will be carved out of the big median currently in place to sustain the pillars and the on and off ramps, which you still have to cross today.

Even if it just looks like this (another option being studied) it will be a huge improvement from what currently exists:

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

Well, you actually DO improve the city by punishing drivers, that's what congestion charges do, for instance. And how does tearing down the Gardiner impede building better transit alternatives? Construction of the DRL is still a priority. There's even the possibility of adding transit to the new...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

Dang, you caught me. It wasn't easy either with all the climbing gear I had to bring to climb on top of it first ;)

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

It's not only a transportation decision, it's a city-building decision as well. It's also an economic decision, patching up the Gardiner every once in a while to make it safe for cars and pedestrians is more expensive than tearing it down in the long run, on top of potential revenue lost from...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

Car experience probably won't be improved, but for some of us that's a good thing if we're trying to disincentive the use of the car. Pedestrian experience won't be improved? are you kidding me? I used to live two blocks from the Gardiner and had to cross it everyday on foot, and trust me...

An article about last night's Star Talk between David Mirvish and Christopher Hume yesterday at the Reference Library http://toronto.curbed.com/archives/2014/02/05/will-frank-gehry-perform-a-facadectomy-to-save-king-st-project.php I was there last night, and I have to say Mirvish seems really...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

If Lakeshore was a beautiful avenue like University (I know Jane Jacobs hated it, but still), I wouldn't mind crossing it at all. It's the ugly concrete, the deafening sound, the feeling you're not welcome that the Gardiner creates that's a barrier. Even going under the railway tracks can be...

I went to a catholic school my whole life... and I don't think in the 21st century we should be building more of them, isn't this a secular society?

Wow, that sounds horrendous! And it might make practical sense for a place that barely has anything except for a bunch of skyscrapers and you can't really walk anywhere, but not for a dense-ish city like Toronto.
