My experiences are that some cars on EB rush hour trains are standing room from Brampton in to Union, mostly all cars are standing room from Bramalea into Union....and definitely all are standing room/crush loaded from Malton in. WB, I don't think I have ever been on a train where seats did not...

Certainly that is how it is done on the UP trains.

Nobody pays getting on or off....they pay for the length of the trip....which can only be measured by knowing where it starts and ends.

In a (partially) fare by distance system like GO, you need to tell the system where your trip started and ended so that the distance you travelled can be calculated.....no?

^cute that the writer thinks this is a project that came about in 2015 because of the UP......I remember Gary McNeil talking about this project!

I think it was casued by the original fare structue where a trip (for example) between Union and Weston was a different fare on UP than GO....so trips starting and stopping in the same place had different prices depending on what train you boarded....so the solution was two different tap...

^when the fare change happened I recall tweets and press releases saying the two different tap machines were temporary until the airport got integrated into the main system.....they seem to have given up on that notion

Why do we have to wean people off of UP? It is well used but other than event times I don’t get the sense it is overcrowded.

Seemed to show up for the odd air show....that was about it. Aside from Concorde’s other cost issues, a huge problem with a service to Toronto was that too much if the route was over land where agreement to not exceed the speed of sound were needed.....so you got the revenue issues without much...

Your sentence structure makes it appear like you are saying only people who use the Brampton stop were in an uproar. I think the uproar was from people throughout Brampton whichever of the 3 stations they use ? But, yes, it seems they don’t proofread much before they put it out!
