General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

This is what that stretch (Bloor x Brunswick) looked like in 2013 before any bike lanes, so presumably it’d go back to that. Drivers will feel all warm and fuzzy until Uber drivers are stopping in the new driving lane instead of the bike lane lol

That's now how I read the legislation, and the government has refused to confirm if it's specific sections or if they intend on removing it all. It certainly reads ("shall remove") that something will be removed, but "Subject to any prescribed exceptions or modifications" keeps this from being...

You might get closer to an answer reading/searching through the Hansard transcript for that bill when it was at the standing committee. From a quick look others share that concern...

Unfortunately not, but I can't find a mention of Avenue Road. Below is what I see:

There was also an amendment to change when the removal of bike lanes portion of 212 comes into effect, switching out "come into force on a day to be named by proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor." and replacing it with once it receives Royal Assent, which could be as soon as next week.

I listened to part of the Minister of Transportation reading out the amendment at the committee (link). They're on a 20 minute recess right now. It sounds really bad. It's like they heard the outrage and said hold my beer.

How do you make sense of that in the face of recent housing developments with enough bike parking for each unit but the same not being the case for car parking? Bloor between Kipling and Sherbourne will see 23,000+ more units in the near future, and many of those people will have no car but will...

Discussed during questions to staff at today's council meeting, and in a roundabout way in the article, the survey data is available to councillors and staff as a confidential attachment but because the province hasn't published the survey yet, no one can speak to the results of the survey.

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

From googling, the data in the chart is from research published in 2011 that calculated the data from pedestrian fatalities in Germany between 1999-2007, so I'm curious how different that curve would be today given how much the design of vehicles has changed since then. There's been a...

Two videos of the bike rally yesterday from the start at Bloor/Christie, 20s with audio of the beginning and a 4.5x speed video (4m30s in 60s). Didn't record it with the intention of posting it anywhere or I wouldn't have faced directly into the sun... Feel free to share/repost

From the start of it at Bloor/Christie police held the intersection for 8 minutes (2:43 to 2:51) to get all the cyclists through and a police cruiser followed with lights. Definitely felt like a much more significant crowd than last month at Queens Park.. felt like well over 1,000 showed up...

Far bigger turnout than I expected, and mention of another ride next month. About a dozen cops on bikes in attendance. Talk of another ride next month, though the speakers could be a bit more poignant/succinct . Really impressed this was organized by two UofT students

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The idea that discussion of existing or planned cycling infrastructure that's under threat of being removed or cancelled can't take place in the thread titled "Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)" is ridiculous
