    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I am obsessed with this. I would not do anything differently. This can be a big win for everyone, for the province, for market housing, for affordable housing, for the community, and for a developer with vision. The province is simply being corrupt and short sighted.

Some media are picking up this story. https://globalnews.ca/news/7584039/toronto-dominion-wheel-and-foundries-company-site-affordable-housing-minister-zoning-order/amp/#click=https://t.co/Air6uUUjSZ...

This is so infuriating. The minister for housing (Steve Clark) is avoiding all comment about this site. It's just so shady and corrupt. They clearly know how unethically they are approaching this. What blows my mind is how little vision the province has here. This site can: - Deliver...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Glad @AlexBozikovic is coming to realize that the MZO was not issued over some high minded provincial goal of affordable housing, but corruption with the cover of affordable housing. The heavy handed approach by the province says a lot. This development could have a lot of potential. Instead...

Looks like there’s more to come. The councillor is trying to find ways to pause demolition.

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I honestly just don't get it. These heritage buildings could be incorporated into a development. This site has the potential to be something beautiful that adds to the community. How can this be anything other than blatant corruption? Why the secrecy? Why the rush to destroy the buildings on...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Theres a difference between wanting a more efficient process for approving development applications and how the province has gone about this site. In fact we could move things a lot faster if the province actually used its power to - Upzone the yellowbelt to allow multifamily homes on...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

How is it possible that they can start construction on a project without any information about what is actually getting built here? I'm not even anti-development it's just absurd that we can't even see what they intend to put here. What do the buildings look like? Why did they choose not to...

    Toronto Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG

This building looks nice and shiny in the renderings but I feel like it’s just another blue-glass building that’s going to blend in with delta and the shangri-la.

This project looks like it's starting to come together. Will be interesting to watch progress on cladding into the spring. Is there any indication of which retailers will come to the space on Front?

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

This project better be absolutely spectacular if I am going to believe public good was in any way a consideration here.

Nothing makes this point better than taking a photo from 2016 and pretending it’s the current situation here. 🙄

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I think we can agree that high density can be added to this neighborhood without entirely leaving area residents in the dark about what the province is doing with some unnamed developer. I don't know why it's unreasonable for the public to want to see a proposal and have time to comment...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

The reason the benefits are unclear is that nothing has actually been put forward to the public. There is nothing to scrutinize other than an MZO buried into a Friday. This development could very well bring benefits to the community and create a ton of new affordable housing. But there’s no way...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Okay, but there’s no development proposal here. It’s not like the city has been fumbling approvals here. There has not been anything to approve, and there’s still no plan available for the public to see.

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

The site is in a master planned neighborhood and was planned to remain heritage. Thousands of people moved to the neighborhood expecting that. Also, all the great things you’re saying are promised... aren’t promised. There’s no proposal. There’s nothing anyone in WDL can evaluate. Nobody knows...

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Okay, this doesn't change anything. If the province is going to use MZO to accelerate projects that have economic and social value, they should at least do so for projects that are already proposed.

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Ok... but there isn't even a proposal out to the public. It's not like the city's planning is holding up a project here. There is no project here. An MZO change is nonsense for this site.

Toronto Oak House at Canary Landing | 162.61m | 46s | Dream | Henning Larsen

I am honestly happy with these developments, but it's gross that the province went over Toronto. They would have likely been approved within months. Does anyone know who the developer for block 26 & 17 will be? Same?

    Toronto West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I'm not sure how this can be seen as anything other than corruption. Blocks 20, 4, 5, and 7 at least had development proposals available to the public (and were likely going to be approved by the city within a few months time). No plans for this site have been made to the public, with approval...
