    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

2-3 is super low and I highly doubt that, 4-5 is more likely.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

The first series of Bi-Levels that were built in 1976 should reach the end of their life without any further rebuilds by 2035. The newest series was built up until 2021, so going off that, theoretically the 350 newest coaches would reach the end of their lives by 2080. I’m not saying that they...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Honestly the Simpli financial ads don’t bother me as much, they’ve been doing ads like that for years. What does bother me is the OLG ad that is played over the PA system encouraging people to buy lottery tickets for a trip to the 2026 Olympic Games, and a free GO train ride, gambling should...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Does the electric bus accelerate much faster than the current ones? I know the current buses are quite slow at getting up to speed, especially uphill

I actually like Jack Landau in my opinion, every time I’ve had a BlogTO article written on something I did he’s always asked for permission and more in-depth detail on anything I’ve made. The Kitchener Line bike issue article he wrote was well-written, something BlogTO definitely isn’t known...

I really doubt that honestly, not the same city or region. Last year the province of Ontario announced a program that aimed to push developers to propose and fund new GO stations that link to their developments, this to me seems like the first one that’s happening.

That announcement seemed to have slipped through the cracks, Lakeview GO station will be located between Port Credit and Long Branch GO, here’s a map I made showing it:

The problem is Bay Street Promenade area doesn’t have a place “off to the side” to allow people to look at departure screens, it’s a 4 way junction that leads to a big hallway everyone walks down towards the Bay Concourse. I do agree with all of you though, the lower level at Union does need...

I made them (There was actually a general template online that I made into each different Bi-Level Series). I need to eventually remake them but I’ve done a diagram on all 16 variants that GO uses. There’s a few details that I got wrong or forgot to include on each different one, but overall...

I’m just reading that off the 1978 brochure I have for the GO Bi-Levels (specifically the last two points, or most importantly last point), maybe I’m not getting it right though:

Yeah the B end door and a entire window needed to be removed on the Series 5b-10 coaches to add a lower level washroom, you can’t add them to older coaches without putting them through a massive retrofit. Here’s a comparison between the Series 1 and 10 coaches, you can see the door is moved...
