Rob Ford - Why the Supervillian?

It's a good things signs in no way correlate with actual voting turnout. Then again, I was in the neighbourhood yesterday and saw mainly Pantalone signs.

    Toronto Council Races - 2010

Thanks for the link, watching Ward 29's now. Btw, do let me know if you find a stream for Tuesday's debate.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Is the 7pm debate on Tuesday night going to be the final one? Anyone know if CP24 streams it online, or if some 3rd party does?

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Next Monday is going to be a crazy day. What were the polls like in the 2003 race, the week before Miller won?

    Roncesvalles Reconstruction

I was on Roncesvalles today having brunch at Brad's Eatery before going for a walk in High Park. I lived on Geoffrey St. last year and see construction is still trudging along, how much longer until the sidewalks are worked on and everything is completed?

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

A statistical tie is all one can expect, so long as it doesn't have Ford with a lead of 5-8% I'll be happy. If there is indeed a Pantalone implosion based on his soft support, we probably won't see that until next weekend's polls.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

And no subsidy = no expansion whatsoever = less ridership. I'd rather have a yearly subsidy, like we used to pre-Harris, and hope (it's unfortunate that we need to even do this) the money is spent on something useful than have nothing and know nothing will be improved. The notion of...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

My point is that while I don't agree with a number of things Giambrone has done, the TTC has at least made some progress, not spectacular progress, but some nonetheless. Transit City is not perfect, but it is at least something, is funded, and will serve more of Toronto than a Sheppard...

    Mississauga 2010 Election

^Not much the councilors can do if the public simply doesn't care. Despite a lot of media attention regarding the corruption of the current council in Vaughan, they're probably all going to be re-elected with the exception of Mayor Jackson (who will be ousted by Bevilacqua).

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

That depends on the complexion of the new council. And if you expect a combative relationship with council, assuming it stays left-of-centre, isn't that indicative of how useless the next four years will be and how little will be accomplished? And isn't it scary that he espouses these "crazy"...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

According to CP24, this poll had a sample size of 1000, higher than both previous polls we've had and was taken by "very likely" voters. Given that 18% are still undecided, yet "very likely" to vote, and almost a quarter of Pants' supporters are seriously considering switching to another...

    Mississauga 2010 Election

Most likely? Generally one's level of cognizance would decline the older they are? John McCain's was a big issue in the US election, and while obviously the PotUS is an infinitely more taxing and complex job than this, I wouldn't want my mayor to be in the mid 90s by the end of the term.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

As long as this race is within 1-2% for Smitherman, and the last poll shows something along those lines, I think we'll see a lot of Pantalone supporters jump ship, even though he isn't going to drop out. Fingers crossed! This is going to be a very nervy election night.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

    Mississauga 2010 Election

So is another landslide expected? Can someone in their 90s really be trusted to run a city effectively? I'd be a bit worried about that if I were a resident of the city.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Are there usually many election night parties downtown? I don't have TV at my apartment and would love to just go to a bar with some friends and watch everything unfold. Plus, if Ford wins at least I'll be drunk. Edit - Just got a Pantalone supporter to switch to Smitherman. Before I talked...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Yes, but we can't assume that trend will continue as the anti-Ford movement is also in full-swing. If the undecideds are composed of a lot of torn Smitherman/Pantalone voters, then there is still a large amount of potential support for Smitherman out there, but if these undecideds are simply...

I went ahead and voted for Rob Ford today

I find that a lot of people in Scarborough get irrascibly angry in regards to property valuation. "Why is my 1100 square ft. condo only worth 230 thousand and a bachelor downtown is worth more?! Downtown sucks! Why would you want to live with hundreds of panhandlers around your home every day!"...

I went ahead and voted for Rob Ford today

I don't think it is, I hear these same arguments every day from this one angry co-worker. He lives in Scarborough, hates downtown, complains about taxes 90% of the day and the other 10% is spent on complaints regarding homeless, welfare abusers, etc with anecdotal evidence. He thinks Miller is...

I went ahead and voted for Rob Ford today

Why should OUR tax dollars go to fund YOUR Sheppard subway line, which shouldn't have been built in the first place, when more would be served with a DRL?
