Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

The Yonge extension was only suppose to go to Steeles. But suburban politicians were crying that they wanted the subway in their riding to get re-elected again.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Well 1. The Eglinton LRT is being built right under the existing subway. 2. The Ontario line will be built way deeper under the existing downtown stations, as there's going to e a lot of utilites they would have to move in the downtown core.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The mini downtowns are actually coming back. Before Toronto was amalgamated, Each borough had their own city halls, which turned into government resource buildings. But recently Scarborough's "downtown" has been coming alive, with the help of the new subway stop helping with the developement...

Lol Exactly. It goes to show you if the developers in this city actually TRY, we can make beautiful projects in Toronto.

Crazy how there's still 52 or 64 (if the city approved the height increase) floors to go.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I believe it's possible. 3/4 of the project will be above ground or at grade with the GO train. The only part that will probably go nuts is the underground section in the downtown core. That part I heard it'll be as deep as 100 feet below so won't be disruptive to the current infrustucture of...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

It's absolutely ridiculous. The same NIMBY's that are complaining about their precious trees, are the same ones that are going to ride the new line when it opens lol. I find it stupid that ppl are all of a sudden caring so much about these trees when we DESPERATELY need more transit in the city...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

But you must remember that the Eglinton line is going through Yonge & Eglinton station, Eglinton west station and Kennedy. Those are are all major transfer stations that were very underestimated on how complex they would be and built last. Hence why we're in this delayed disaster right now.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Well the problem is the corner turn from Kennedy. It's too sharp for the subway, hence the long turn all the way to McCowan. It's not so much the stations that's costing billions, it's the underground tunneling. These areas are residentially built already with sewers and utilities, so these...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

No. Scarborough has density. You're mistaken Scarborough for Vaughn.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Also metrolinx is promoting this as a "faster alternative" to getting across town 60% faster. So they have to keep that promise. For now.

Apparently it's to match the current rapid transit train colors (subway), instead of it being red and white. It's also to distinguish that it'll be more "rapid" and not local like the streetcars downtown.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's ridiculous that they build the surface part with absolute zero transit priority and still make it catered to cars. It's like saying "You can build on this property, but you have to follow the rules".

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

How can you say that? There are many ppl that live south of Scarborough that take the 86, 116, 905 express and the 12 kingston road. So ofcourse there's going to be through-trips past Kennedy.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It was never going to open for 2022. Testing is for this year while the actual revenue opening date is sometime in 2023.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

So why are the Chinese and the Europeans building transit at a rate unheard of in the western world? I will give Toronto some credit tho, The transit projects happening in the city all over the city at the same time right now is actually the largest in North America. But the Eglinton crosstown...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I understand this.. but it's really frustrating that it takes THIS long just to build a project like this. On top of this, our costs seem to balloon everytime transit is built here in the city and makes me wonder if we could possibly outsource our construction companies or something because it's...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's ABSOLUTELY embarrassing and crazy to think that this line could take this long. meanwhile China has been building different modes of train lines left and right. It's pathetic and it makes you think that we live in a 3 world country the way transit construction takes this long in Toronto.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Nah I don't think so. The reason the Confederation line doesn't work as well is that those Alstom trains (they'll also be used on the upcoming Finch west LRT) were not meant to be used on that line. But the order had already been in so they had no choice but to use those trains. Because of this...

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

This was all spearheaded by the suburb councilors that don't even live in Toronto. This is the same result that happened in Vaughn - which sparked their "downtown" to be created.
