Carlton Cinema is shutting down... and opening back up again

I am totally disappointed about this closure but I highly doubt someone would takeover this theatre. If Cineplex can't make any money on this location, there is no point of buying it. I think the Cumberland and Canada Square would be next.

Bed bugs so bad in Toronto they'll soon spread on transit, in theatres.

I, for one, will not welcome those blood sucking overlords.

No, I don't mean that. Judging of the speed of the construction on the maintenance facility for the new trains, I think they would be delay for service.

Last month, I went passed by the Wilson subway yard and there was construction on the site of a new facility for the new subway cars. Being the TTC, I will not be surprised if the new cars are delay for service.

The good thing about the Elgin is, the theatre didn't turn into a multiplex unlike the Uptown and the Imperial.

People should not put dog poo on bicycle lines, especially on Sherbourne.

    Niagara People Mover: BRT?

Yeah, the bus is low tech. This was considered to be the bus of the future 80's style. If a BRT is going to built and I think its cheaper, the fleet should be replaced. Mostly for disabled riders.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I have found the pop culture aesthetics of the early 70's at the Uptown and the Imperial theatres to be ugly.

    More Lost Toronto in colour

Yes, according to the Canadian Trademark Database: strategis.ic.gc.ca/cipo/trademarks/search/tmSearch.do. Mr. Zum's and Zumburgers were owned by Cara Operations, the same owner of Harvey's.

    Chinatown

I don't think Chinatown totally gone downhill especially on Spadina. The only part of Chinatown that gone downhill is on eastern part Dunads St. I think it has to do with the Spadina LRT.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Yes, in a similar position called "Theatre Checkers". Ushers regardless of gender wear their standard uniforms with sometimes walkie talkies depending on the theatre. Any major trouble e.g. fighting will be reported to the manager. Very repetitive work going up and down the stairs at a multiplex...
