So it's the 17th fish that kills you? 😨

The spinny brush thing at that back does pick up a lot of debris. Of course, it won't be 100%, so what you see left on the road is a lot better than what it would have looked without sweeping. I imagine without it, we would have much larger chunks of dirt, not to mention pebbles and rocks and...

I'm not aware of any plans to twin the South Cherry St bridge, and the second Commissioners St bridge is "years away". Heck, it might take years before the first streetcar runs down the existing North Cherry St transit bridge. Incidentally, that's also the reason why there isn't a south sidewalk...

Ask, and you shall receive. Commissioners was being sprayed and swept around 9 am and 12 noon today.

Caught up with the ladies from Waterfront Toronto as they were shooting a new video on Commissioners. Looking forward to hearing Netami tell us what marshmallows (?!) have to do with the filling of the Don River. :D

Not the best example because they're so far away, but that's a full-sized adult human standing on the armour stones.

They had daily sweepers and sprayers on Villiers when it was still open. I wonder what they're looking for work now...

I can't wait to see what they do with the meadow on the transit bridge. I suggested they install some seating and tables and garbage bins too, to turn it into an ad hoc gathering spot. I realize that means more capital costs and arranging for maintenance and garbage pickup and all that, so...

The Lower Don Trail will be extended via the new LSBE bridge and the Don Roadway extension as part of the new cycling infrastructure in the Port Lands. I highlighted the path in pink on one of Waterfront Toronto's old handouts. There are two bike bridges, marked in orange. They will be built in...

Hey, at least they have real signs on new Cherry St now!

According to WT: "They are sandblasting the sidewalk, so directing people to the other side of the bridge. Work is scheduled to be wrapped up by Feb 12."

Anyone know what's going on with the South Cherry St bridge lighting? The LED strips are installed and wired up (seemingly), but the bridge has remained dark at night.

There was also mention of an idea where little viewing platforms could be setup at various points along the fencing so people can get a better view of the construction progress. WT also received a lot of feedback begging they setup live cams and stream 24x7. 😁

The answer from Waterfront Toronto is "probably not even as far as the green area, maybe just below that".

The WT staff at The Lookout both times I was there are enthusiastic and motivated to at least get the current tower open on weekends. But they need to figure out who is available, whether it is done on an ad hoc or a scheduled basis (e.g., first Saturday of every month, etc.), plus I imagine...

I believe that is the desire, but there are some engineering challenges at the moment. In the meantime, WT is working out the logistics to have weekend openings of The Lookout so people don't have to play hooky from work to experience it. :)

Waterfront Toronto opened up the Lookout observation tower in the Port Lands this afternoon. I'm lucky enough to work in the area, so I popped by to say "hi" and to grab this panorama. The last time it was open to the public was for the grand opening of the North Cherry St and Commissioners St...

There was a lady at The Lookout this afternoon there who was absolutely gushing with excitement when I told her about UrbanToronto. She says none of her friends are into public works infrastructure. If only she knew there were a bunch of us there with her. Hope she pokes her head in here soon!

I don't see this mentioned yet, but The Lookout will be open to the public again tomorrow (Tuesday, February 6) from noon to 2 pm. Not terribly convenient for those of us with a 9-to-5 schedule, but if you can make it out, you'll be able to climb to the top of the scaffolding for a better look...
