I agree that Pizza Pizza doesn't give the street much of a vibe, but with a 60 floor condo above this intersection replacing it, the vibe will be ruined by all the whiners living above the intersection complaining about the noise etc...
Bank, tim hortons, starbucks, repeat....throw in a dry cleaner & nail salon here and there and this is what downtown Toronto will look like no matter what street you are on...
The Toronto Planning / development website said this has been appealed to OMB.
If they took the sign down does that mean the appeal was withdrawn? Anybody know?
I work in the area and go to Starbucks and have noticed the lines are a lot smaller or non-existent compared to when there were less locations around. There are only so many Tim Hortons clients you can successfully convert to Starbucks.
Walked by here last night and after seeing the BMO & RBC right next to each other taking up awesome retail space I was depressed. Restaurants could have potentially used those spots with room for patios in front. Imagine how vibrant that would have been on a Friday night...Instead there are 2...
You have to be kidding me...They demolish the building to turn it into a parking lot? Could they not have extended the leases of the nightclub and clothing store, allowing them to operate until they are ready to build?
I walk by this building every day and have to wonder when they plan on cleaning the windows in front. The ones on the left side of the entrance have so much dirt / mud / I don't know what it is! Clean the windows already!!!
I am actually looking forward to the magnum storet! I don't shop at any of the stores on bloor in that area, so for me an ice cream shop is more useful than an overpriced clothing store!
Looks like this one is not happening for awhile. FLY Nightclub is saved for now :)

I guess Subway will be joining the banks as the retail choice in all these new condos...The downtown core is really going to be exciting 10 -15 years from now.
If the buildings were spread out a little bit it would not be so bad. You can practically jump across balconies the way some of these places are built.
Some of these people are going to have such awesome views...Looking at the picture above some people are staring right into another unit or even staring at a brick wall. Who would buy a unit facing wall??? What a joke...
