    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

An important question is how much security presence is appropriate. Currently, the desire is for more. Maybe security was too low. Can we successfully argue that it was too high or just right? It's a bit of alternate history, it's unlikely that an incident would happen in front of an officer...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The graph shows a dramatic increase in the rate of crime from pre-covid times. It's well over 2x I know many people including myself who avoid/reduce their transit usage due to recent events. I have seen this sentiment on this forum from others too. The feeling that transit is safe is...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

https://www.blogto.com/city/2023/01/people-are-already-criticizing-increased-police-presence-ttc/ I'm very happy with the increased police and staff presence on transit. The noticeable increase in security presence makes the subway a less anxious ride for me at least. I'm pretty sure I'm not...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This seems interesting. It sounds like it'll cost a lot to build and run with hardly any revenue. Of note, it seems that they won't be enforcing the parking rules on the surface lot.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

https://www.blogto.com/city/2010/10/ever_wondered_what_it_costs_to_advertise_on_the_ttc/ It's a bit old now. You'll find the 2018 advertising costs at the link.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Advertising doesn't provide much revenue for the TTC. Check out the budget. In 2018, that was $28.35m. Around the same as many of the add-ons that TTC has provided (2 hour transfer, under 12 free, etc). https://stevemunro.ca/2017/11/14/ttc-plans-flatlined-service-and-fares-for-2018/ That's all...

    King-Queen-Roncy Intersection/ROW

Saturday night I saw people walking down the ROW and another person reversing their car after getting onto this ROW. So the shoveling was for them 🤣

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

I went to Streetsville recently and I think it was alright. Mississauga is built for drivers and it's not advisable to have paid street parking while parking is free everywhere else. It's a disincentive to visit the paid parking places. As others have mentioned, there needs to be an alignment in...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Subway has been pretty good so far. I'd say about 20% of the time there has been a long enough wait to connect to the Wi-Fi

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I do find the service discussions interesting. I've started taking TTC more now with the cold weather and I'm very happy with the service. The longest I've had to wait for a streetcar or subway train is 4 minutes. I'm not a daily commuter so I'm only experiencing a snippet. Very happy right now...

    Toronto 931 Yonge | 106m | 33s | CreateTO | Zeidler

I was wondering about that too. When the owner needs to move, do they sell at market rates and gain all the upside? At that point, the unit would no longer be affordable.

    Zoning Reform Ideas

Something to note in this conversation is that the parts of the city that we all love were built one home at a time, most likely by the homeowners themselves. It is more desirable to have human scale development. Unfortunately, with our population growth we don't have the luxury of only human...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Drove on the newly expanded highway over the weekend. It was great. Traffic flowing on a weekend as one would expect. Decades late, but Happy its here.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

That is surprising for me to hear. How are harassed defined here? Do they come by and ask for change once or is it when there is an aggressive interaction with you? I am with you that security needs to be ramped up big time on the TTC.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

How often does this happen to you? I've taken the TTC for decades and never seen anyone pee/shoot up or been harassed.
