    VIVA + York Region Transit

Looks like I am wrong. I believe I read somewhere that public transit buses are excempt from the Hwy 407 fees, but that "somewhere" wasn't an authoritative source.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There will be no split line. If, against all projections, ECLRT hits its capacity limit, such condition will apply equally to the tunneled section and the surface section. Train frequency is just one of several parameters that determine the capacity limit. Design of the platforms, stairs /...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Less than I hoped for, but still, not insignificant. Assuming the busway, once built, will be in operation for 8-10 years, and require little ongoing maintenance, it could offset 30% to 40% of the construction cost.

^ I believe that public transit buses are allowed to use Hwy 407 for free, and that was part of the sale agreement. I agree with all other points.

One more option is to extend the Purple from RHC to Pioneer Village station via Hwy 407, during the peak periods only. And, keep the rest of VIVA as is. That would be similar to Zum 501C branch, that exits Hwy 7 to 427, and then uses the 407 as a shortcut to Jane.

That's an interesting suggestion. I guess, one problem is that DRT doesn't currently have any service on Highway 7. Nearly all of its routes operate way further south. So, they would need to add an entirely new route to reach the Cornell terminal.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

And, a bit of conspiracy: is it possible that the latest Eg East report is skewed against the LRT? Let's say, the City staff knows that there is no chance to fund Eg East LRT anytime soon, therefore they present it as less desirable to make it fall off the radar, at least temporarily?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'm not disputing your opinion, as it is based on the published studies. Just curious, how does the Eg East route differ from Finch West, or from other corridors where street-median LRTs have been proposed: Sheppard E, Don Mills, Jane. Apparently, dedicated bus lanes (not even in street median...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I'm curious if they estimated the potential savings from using the busway vs running the buses in mixed traffic. If the buses run faster when they use the busway, then the same bus and the same driver make more trips during the same 8-hours shift. And then you can have fewer buses and drivers...

    VIVA + York Region Transit

I don't have any insides, but will dare to guess based on my knowledge how administrative systems work in general. They need to provide VIVA service on Hwy 7, from Cornell to Martin Grove. They know that splitting the route will improve the reliability. Then the most straightforward option is...

    VIVA + York Region Transit

York Region isn't really interested in the transit ridership growth. Maybe, except the Yonge corridor that has a decent service, and the area around the Vaughan Centre subway station. For the rest of the system, YRT's real mandate is: - To provide some basic level of mobility for residents who...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I don't really like the slow orders. However, they should matter much less for the surface section of ECLRT than for the legacy streetcars. The intersections and the traffic lights are spaced much wider on that part of Eglinton than in downtown. And, about half of those intersections will have...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Etobicoke has some highrise clusters, for example on Eglinton near Kipling, or on Dixon Road. If I am not mistaken, a few highrises along Finch as well. They are kind of randomly placed, I guess wherever the developers were able to purchase enough land. The rest is mostly SFH. Perhaps it is...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

True; but we will have to compare the actual LRT travel time from Kennedy to Brentcliffe to the estimated travel time that could have been achieved on the subway. The latter greatly depends on the assumed stop spacing. Say, the Yonge subway covers 8 km from Finch to Eglinton in ~ 14 min (34...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Probably' won't be a huge problem. It's not like fully grade-separated subways always run smoothly, sometimes too many trains are stuck in one section of the line and as a rider, you need patience to take their stop-n-go, 10 kph average speed crawl. Speaking of Eglinton, the whole line - even...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I believe, even the surface sections Don Mills - Kennedy and Brentcliff - Leslie are designed to allow 3-car trains. The street blocks are very long on that section of Eglinton, it should be possible to fit long surface stops. They might not need to replace anything with buses. Not sure about...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It won't be overcapacity in the first year, or in the first 5 years. Probably, not in the first 10 years either. Eglinton is a popular route, but doesn't have huge trip generators or destinations. Many of the riders will only take Eglinton to the nearest Line 1 station. Which means, all of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Honestly, I don't see how artificially delaying Eglinton LRT can accelerate the construction of Eglinton West LRT.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

At this rate, ECLRT and Eg West might be ready on the same date 😒 Or, maybe the western segment of ECLRT gets renamed into Eg West East, then combined with Eg West West, and begins operating from Allen Rd to Renforth. While the rest of ECLRT gets completed together with the Ontario Line, circa...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

A station at Clark ranks higher for the local density than one at Centre / John would, while the connectivity ranking of either location would be about equal. I doubt they will ever run Clark or Centre service across Yonge. But they can easily run the #77 Centre down Yonge to terminate at the...
