That's how I look at the Tim Horton's that's in the TCHC building at King & River. At first I was all "boo Tim Horton's!" but now i'm all "yay, Red!"

Well somebody has to deal with the Gridock.

I can't tell you how many times the dumptrucks going up Sherbourne at 5:30, with their bed / gate bouncing around over the busted roads, would wake me up. Easily one of the things I hated the most about living beside Sherbourne.

One of the other issues with the Dominion is that they have a great patio, but because of its exposure gets little direct sunlight (mornings / early afternoon hit it the most). Yet they open at 3 on weekends. Given how dank it is on the inside, i find little other reason to go .

Time for some unfounded speculation! The Dominion pub, as of late, has had increasingly short hours. They're opening later in the day during the week, and were closed this past weekend entirely, with "repairs". The marquee which announced times / dates of upcoming jams has sat empty for a few...

Not Corktown, but just across the bridge in Riverside is An Sibin (Queen & Broadview), a pretty good Irish Pub.

    Riverside

That's sort of exactly what i've experienced... Living in the area I see a lot of new residents expecting the place to become a lot more, uh, sanitized in the coming years. Not necessarily corporate, or chains, but certainly a little more sterile. After having lived near sherbourne for years...

    Riverside

I'd imagine there's probably also an "out with the old, in with the new" sentiment coming from the newer residents to the area. A lot of them are here because of the promise of gentrification. RJ doesn't really offer that. (that's assuming there's something to this other than thinly-veiled racism)

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

Walking down sumach to eastern on Saturday I noticed that the only thing that really looks like it's getting in the way of that area finally opening is construction debris on the street. Anyone know if there's anything that's legitimately holding up the connection between mill & eastern, or is...

I was visiting a friend in 90 Broadview yesterday and came across this note from Streetcar. Sorry for the terrible resolution (I'm looking at you, Tim Cook!)

    St Lawrence Market

This seems like unnecessary hyperbole. It's got a lot of good quality food that you can't otherwise find in the area, and vendors who genuinely care about their product. On Saturdays it really is a sight to behold. Great produce in the north, and an impressive amount of quality meats, fish, and...

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

I didn't see anything about Sumach / Cherry street and the traffic regulations come out of July's council meeting. Did I miss it, or was it pushed back to accommodate for a three hour debate on whether or not to request an apology?

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

From a layperson's perspective, the stretch between Eastern and mill seems like it's ready to go. Does its not being open have anything to do with the streetcar tracks, even though they're physically separated from the road? //Edit: I forgot to put in "Eastern." //EDit 2: wow, i also forgot to...

    St Lawrence Market

When I was there I asked if it was because of the condo proposal that's been plastered to the front of the building for a few years. She said yes. I presume that also means the end is nigh for the Acura dealership, especially since they have a new one in the works as it is.

What are time based fares? How will they help?

Vancouver uses time-based fares with the addition of zoned travel. So 90 minutes within one zone is $2.75, going up to $4 and $5.50 for 2 & 3 zones respectively. This means that if you live and shop in the same zone, you could conceivably do it all for $2.75. I found I used transit a lot more...

    St Lawrence Market

The Sobey's on Front street will be closing on June 28th, according to one of the ladies working cash. Apparently some sweet deals coming up in the next couple weeks, too, which probably amounts to them trying to be competitive with No Frills for the first time since it opened.
