    Tram-Train: Would it work here?

This idea would likely be better for most of our cities throughout Canada.. It would bring low cost rapid transit to more places. Having said that, there are a few challenges to overcome to make it a realty: 1) Transport Canada (TC) regulations make light rail vehicles on regular train lines...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

A station in Schumacher would be close enough to the downtown that it is almost walkable. A singular hourly bus isn't that good. It's better than nothing though.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/cn-cpkc-workers-reauthorize-strike-1.7250941 Does anyone know what this will affect when it comes to GO and Via operations?

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

So many wish to forget that the provinces have done their fair share to cut what we had for public rail transportation. If the provinces would take over Via routes,I doubt they would take on their pensions and environmental costs. They may hire them, but they would be starting new.

    Canadian Highway Fantasy Thread

The point of following the Trans Labrador highway is because it goes to many of the towns in Labrador. Part of the thought would be to keep the 2 territory capitals separate, but straight down.

    Canadian Highway Fantasy Thread

I understand this is a fantasy thread.I am just trying to see the point. Fifty years ago out west, and in the Maritimes, the single number TCH made sense to help cross country travel. Back when we traveled by paper maps, knowing that if you stay on this highway the whole way, you get where you...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Well, now that I have learned what I need about why people think that it must be cut and cover, I will accept it and wait for the announcement as to what they do.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I am trying to learn about the various projects. I never said that it should be one or the other.I have asked why one was better than the other.

Had you said that, this would have ended at least a page ago.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I asked that because by knowing what projects they want to mimic,it allows me to temper my answers to show whether it is superior or inferior. IIRC in Toronto, except for some of the streetcar tunnels, everything since the 1960s has been bored tunnel. Even the most recent Line 5 debacle has been...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Cut and cover is not inferior or superior to a TBM. No different than any other construction method for anything. They both have their upsides and downsides. If we look at the design aspect, parts could be both. No, they were being dismissive.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

If you are going to say so what to 2 things, then what is the point?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

That was a mess, and still is. The rolling stock is different and it was not an extension.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

That is because we are not able to put those bids out to get it done.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

What I am saying is that I want them to be heard enough that it gets built without them trying to stop it. If there are those who want it stopped, then they can be ignored. However, if they want less disruptions during the construction, then we should hear them out.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Uhm, as taxpayers, they are. They pay all sorts of taxes, so their input should matter to some degree. More so than any of us who are not locals, or local businesses. Do we have any recent projects that have used cut and cover with any success?

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

This was the cheapest option to bring it to the city of Timmins as Porcupine is technically part of Timmins. The closest they could get to the city proper wouldbe around Shumacher, about 8km closer. In my dream world, the Northlander would terminate in Timmins, and so would the Polar Bear...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

It isn't for me to decide. It is for the businesses and residents of the area. If they feel cut and cover is the best, then that is the decision. If they feel that option will be too disruptive, then another option should be looked at.
