Gimme a break!! Photograph a few highrises looking up at the balconies and I daresay it will not be a flattering shot, especially when the concrete is new and has not lightened as it ages/or is exposed to sunlight. Methinks you protest too much....:) And dare I say it?? I like the building.....

I love the building. It is unique enough in design to stand out, yet not so trendy that it will become dated in decades to come. I always thought it was expensive to buy in, but now with the location and exterior.....not so much! I hope the lobby and interiors will be equally as upscale...

As a buyer, purchasing in good faith that a particular builder is building the condo, do we not have any recourse if that project is sold to another builder to complete? Isn't that a huge part of what you are purchasing--the builder??!!

I don't understand this. They have one mortgage commitment already per unit, even if the lender gets them all again, what good are they for a 2011 occupancy? Is this normal?

I love the building as well, thats why I bought my unit. I have been out of town for several months, and rumors aside, how is the market REALLY doing?? Does anyone know? Do you think these M5V units will hold their pre-construction value by completion date?

Oh I'm sure they would try to give you SOMETHING to make up for it. Probably not 5K worth but perhaps half that, to show good faith. I'm sure they had good intentions--the furniture store probably sold the 5K package to them at a huge discount to get the advertising.

Yes mine is on 19--so you could be right....

Finally got my letter mentioned above--it states completion date to be MARCH 2011 and says that it could be accelerated. They will soon have a "Purchaser Portal" up on the internet which will keep us up to date on the construction, via pics etc. That will be good....

That is good news. I agree that it is a wonderful part of King St. Hopefully the great location will ensure that the units hold their value a tad better in this ongoing Recession.

I suspect it has more to do with financing.

Well that is good news for speculators that do not want to take title to their units in this depressed market--buys them time. But for us who are renting, waiting for M5V to be built for our occupancy, it is VERY discouraging....

Gosh I hope thats not true....renting for two more years would be unbearable.

Over a month later...Let me guess.....still more painfully slow digging....a couple of tired machines.....slightly bigger hole.... Maybe the upside is, by the time it is completed ( three years?? four??) we may be back in an "up" market???

I'm sorry but this progress does not scream "OK crew, lets DIG IN and get this mutha completed!!!!".......it rather whimpers, "OK lets move some dirt around, and dig a little, to say we are starting construction to get our last draw, and then revisit our options at a later date....." I am...

Hey--can it be??!! Are they actually painting the fugly white behemoth Holiday Inn across the street, or is it only for the first few stories on the street facade?? Does anyone know?

It is merely that the sub-prime mess has taught lenders here to be more stringent in their lending policies--a good thing yes--but tighter credit MAY put smaller developers at a huge disadvantage when attempting to secure financing now as opposed to before this mess....

Good article today Sept 5 in Globe and Mail Real Estate (Terence Belford The High Life) about how many of the high rise condo builders are facing financing problems AKA U.S. subprime credit boondoggle.....hence delays and perhaps eventual abandonment of projects.
