    Rob Ford's Toronto

Mammo is worse. Ford might actually be intimidated by the level of discourse in the room and simply sit on his hands and think about pies, but Mammo will just blubber embarrassing non-sequiturs to draw attention to himself.

Not sure, as I've always found that Tory couldn't get elected to a PTA position, but our standards for gaffes have to be far lower after Ford.

I got a form with my bill last time, but it seemed so hastily thrown-together that I didn't have any confidence that my extra money would go where I wanted it to.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

My assumption is that these companies are just spitballing proposals here but was just wondering if any of these ideas was based, in any way, in reality. Thanks.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Why would an MGM resort require 3-5 times what Caesars is willing to invest? I'm wondering where these figures are coming from, or what the scope of Caesars project would be.

As much as I dislike her opinions on just about everything, this goes to show what a Herculean effort it must've been for Adrienne Batra to reign in this rampaging elephant during the campaign and until she resigned. This election should be interesting if he doesn't have Batra to play defence...

Can't we all just get along? The car, bicycle, skateboard, pedestrian et al debate

A driver sitting in a seat doesn't necessarily mean they're getting out right then or even at all. It is the responsibility of the driver to look before opening a door into a bike lane, as the cyclist has 100 other things to monitor rather than attempting to anticipate whether the dude at the...

    Scotiabank Cinema

Don't they? What's that room at the top of the escalators? I've never actually seen it used but it looks like a space for exactly that kind of thing.

And those pesky animal rights special interest groups

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Well if completely screwing up commutes into downtown (more so than they already are) and putting a giant tourist complex in a place with inadequate transit makes MadMax into a professional poker player, well sign me up :)

All the votes. I'd also endorse a campaign with only the tagline - "SERIOUSLY?!"

Can't we all just get along? The car, bicycle, skateboard, pedestrian et al debate

The City has studied and even implemented bicycle licensing in the past and addresses many of the issues here. It should also be noted that licensing wouldn't necessarily provide any benefits - in terms of identification - beyond what is already in the HTA. I would definitely agree that laws...

Carroll is my #1 choice. I think KWT needs another term or two before being ready. A reasonable conservative like John Parker would be my choice if I had to pick a right-winger.

    Captain John's Restaurant (1975-2012)

Way back in this thread, but this is actually the kind of project that RM would do well. Normally I hate RM projects because they seem to want to make the same restaurant over and over again (same look, same very pared-down menu) despite the original intent of the business. Here, they could...

    Rob Ford and Pride

I'm starting to think that the best response to this is for Pride Toronto to publicly BAN Ford from their events. Ford is so pigheaded, stubborn, and spiteful that it might get him to go to everything.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Thanks for that insight. Something will probably happen, eventually, but who knows what.

Movie Theatres in Toronto - Old and New

As much of a cinephile as I am, I never had much love for the Cumberland. I've seen my share of films there, but I'm not as sorry to see it go as I would be if the Carlton, Varsity, or any of the other existing rep cinemas closed.

Our Canadian laws that you don't seem to have even a cursory understanding of?

    St Clair West

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this. There are a few small boutiques and stuff in that area, but personally I'd like to see more investment closer to my area (Dufferin) where there are still a few vacants and failed businesses.
