Are Social Media Websites like Facebook and Twitter becoming too powerful?

Ditto. Some of them do dealings with unpleasant people at their jobs. They don't want to be easily found online.

    Gas Prices...

Check out this gas price info graphic. The point seems to be that long term prediction is futile. http://envirogy.ca/2011/06/13/gas-price-infographic/

    Toronto Tourism

I like the CN Tower's idea of turning our attractions into extreme feats. Perhaps more are in order. Like 'Prevent Sky Doom from closing with your bare hands' and 'Strap yourself to the Exhibition Place wind turbine ride'.

Bed bugs so bad in Toronto they'll soon spread on transit, in theatres.

I'm comforted that this story is a year and half old. So far, the bugs have not overthrown society and replaced our leaders giant bug composites. Wait...

Did Hudak just shoot himself in the foot?

Yeah, the PWU logo is on it but there's a good idea in there. I liked the idea of a comprehensive system, one that included a bit of everything. There's a lot of talk about adding more wind or cutting coal. These industries come with pros and cons but I feel the overlooked topic is whether or...

City fed up with uncoordinated utility work

I hear this a lot, but judging city workers by a five second walk-by is not good evidence. Do you work for the city? How do we know it is overstaffed? In addition, wouldn't these construction workers work for private company? They're not city workers, they work for companies the city hired.

City fed up with uncoordinated utility work

Yeah. It seems like they're making progress on that lately. At least they put a big new hole in the middle of it. Holes are progress, right?

Did Hudak just shoot himself in the foot?

Yeah, he's hoping the conservative wave will keep pushing. However, I AM trying to wrap my head around this energy debate. I came across this site which talks about Ontario's energy grid. Do they have the right idea? http://abetterenergyplan.ca/#

    Graffiti

I think they're great. It seems most people are agreeing that illegible names written in black marker is not art. I'm don't even know why people do that (please explain?). But if people are REALLY upset about it, check out how NYC dealt with its problem. I remember reading (in Gladwell's...

    Cops target squeegee kids

Your car might be private property but you're driving it in a public space. Things will happen to it. How do we regulate illegal panhandling? They might not have money to pay a fine. For some of them, putting them in jail is a reward. And come monday, they're on the street again. Preventative...

City fed up with uncoordinated utility work

I don't mind the repairs (in theory). But I see a lot of projects just sitting around: holes dug, equipment lying around. Sometimes jobs seem to go unfinished for months.

Did Hudak just shoot himself in the foot?

Everyone expects him to take it but aren't sure why. People assume there is enough anti-Dalton sentiment for him to win. But without a good reason to vote FOR him, I feel like he might meet an embarrasing, although slim, defeat. Afterall, I'm still mostly hearing about his idea to cancel the...

    Summit Energy

Years ago, my roommate signed on with one of these companies. As I was going through the documents, I realized that the salesperson had lied about the rate so I canceled. Although I have heard stories of people signing on with such companies 25 years ago and now they have eight cent power bills.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

This is really great. Nothing happens all at once and this downtown perimiter route is a start.

    Toronto 2020 Olympic Bid

When i read this, my first thought was 'there's no way our transit system can handle an influx of that kind.' I imagine transportation is a challenge all Olympic cities cope with but I don't know what their solutions are. If all of Toronto evacuated, there might be enough space for them.

What's your favourite policy/program of the Miller gov't?

Agreed It's still a policy of his and he did everything he needed to do to get it going. Moreover, I thought it was a really great plan and I really appreciated the adult compromise: we get a city-wide system but we don't get subways. I prefer the former to the later.

Ford Wants NFL Team For Toronto

Also... Also London, Paris, Sydney, Shanghai, Moscow, and Rio de Janeiro. I guess those cities are second rate.
