    Homelessness and Panhandling in Toronto

oh, they are not illegal. They are called unregulated boarding homes. They may not be the same thing as rooming houses, but, essentially they are the same.Low to no supervision. There may be less than there was in the 90's, but, I know for a fact there are 6 Tyndall avenue alone.

    working from home

Thanks for all the great posts! I'm not a people person, so, I don't think I'd be affected by not having office folks to hang out with...though the post about it being easier to waste time at work (parties, conversations, etc..) was priceless!

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

I just hope it's someone who was as funny as Mel was. Shaking hands with Hells Angels, making racist comments about going to africa and being cooked in a pot, lol...he was a hoot. Either that or some one who is nice to look at, maybe Sandra Oh.

I was just wondering if there is any of you out there who for one reason or another work from home? I am thinking of switching to an area in my line of work where I could essentially work mostly from home. What do you like about it? pros...cons,, would you reccomend it?

    snow removal/clearing

now that winter is slowly kicking in, I dread the lousy job snow crews do in Toronto. Why is it that in almost every city in the GTA removes the snow from the streets? Toronto just pushes it aside. We literally lose 6 feet of road. In Montreal, they would literally tow your car to remove the...

What! Canada's male to female ratios!

I think I remember seeing a documentary on mainland china where they said that since females overwhelmingly are under represented. They actually have a wider selection of mates and they are marrying "up". The men lower on the income scale , had little chance of marrying because women had so many...

Why do police have to stand at construction sites?

when I first came to Toronto, I couldn't see the reasoning behind having officers at construction sites. I think a basic security company would suffice, but, an armed officer?

    is racism common in Toronto?

my tone in posting this is not to antagonize, so, is it possible to say that a visible minorities success is at least somewhat interdependant on familial supports/upbringing? As I'm sure if I looked at american stats. Most teen pregnancies are in the african american population, and I have...

    is racism common in Toronto?

Then explain the success of chinese immigrants in Canada versus your assertion that visible minorities get the short end of the stick. I'm no historian, but, they had they "head tax" as I belive it was called. It is said that one chinese man died for every kilometer of railroad track laid...

    2006 Census: Visible Minorities

I try to check off trailer trash, but, I can never find it? I like having south asians as neighbours. Jamaicans are irie. Koreans? come on in!!! My only thought is "north american culture" will disappear. don't ask me to define north american culture, I can't. What if we can't...

    is racism common in Toronto?

No, my point is. It isn't a principal or government official who's going to be advertising their idiocy of being a racist. It's usually white guys with no brains. The ones you gotta worry about being racist is people in power who make decisions. Anybody whom is in power and is going to directly...
