Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

If it wasn't Bombardier making "whisper" jets it would have been embrear making "hush hush" jets or boeing making "silent" jets, any oxymoronic name to make everyone say "wow, how innovative." When you invest the kind of money required to start an airline, the corporate plan extends at least 15...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

As much as I hate that Rob Deluce knew all along that he would lobby for jets in order to increase the return on his investment, I see gweed's idea, that of improved transit infrastructure to the island, as the best possible outcome. Not that I think waterfront residents will ever give up their...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

accura407 you are hereby charged and convicted with snobbery against the eastern third of Toronto, formerly known as Scarborough. For your crimes you are required to turn in your automobile (presumably some rebadged Honda) and will ride the TTC 85 Sheppard East, rain or snow, for one full year.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

IMO cancelling the plan yet again, just because of an administration change, is the kind of insane thinking that at least partly explains why Toronto never gets past planning transit to building transit. We have a plan, flawed or not, that council approved. Let's build and keep building. We have...

U.S. Congresswoman calls for high-speed rail linking Manhattan to Canadian cities

I think if you bring Chicago into the scenario, and have the Chicago-New York trains run without a Canadian stop (or Canadian customs hassles), a high speed Northeast network makes a lot of sense.

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Normal Relief Points Oh where art thow SELRT: Dear TTC customer service, I'm inquiring about whether TTC operators are permitted to stop, sometimes two in a row, in order to purchase beverages at coffee shops. My reading of ATU 113 collective agreement suggests no, that they must stop at...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I definitely admit that if you are already in a car than what's the advantage of all this demolition expense, not to mention lowering the GO? But if you are a resident near this location, perhaps you see the advantage as getting rid of a wall that separates eastern and western parts of...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

If you look you'll notice the GO Station does not impede Eglinton Avenue's progress. It's only the GO line, and any other traffic on the track, that cross the roadway.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Were the stars to align for replacement of the SRT with a subway, would the city be able to eliminate the Eglinton/Kennedy road overpass? I see the structure as a blight that causes too much complexity for private and public transportation. Were it not there the Crosstown LRT could also simply...

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Newsflash courtesy of the Government of Ontario: "The Sheppard East LRT from Don Mills station to east of Morningside Avenue... work will begin in 2017 and be completed by 2021." I'm surprised the haters are not dancing in the streets or launching dancing emoticons on this thread. Who thinks the...

    Transit City Plan

The Sheppard line even with Metrolinx's stingy timelines is due to open in 2018. Hopefully the TTC and the TTCriders advocacy group are successfull in getting Ontario to accelerate construction.
  12. Q

    Rob Ford's Toronto

While Kipling Station is 2.5km from Toronto's western border, Kennedy is over 13km from the eastern border. 3 subway stations for a population of over 600,000 is not equitable to the rest of the city. And the SRT is hardly a "rapid transit system" but a cramped train with 6 stops that routes...

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

All fanciful but hollow arguments about the necessity of a subway on Sheppard make me wonder how many of Gordon Chong's patients are walking around with root canals when they only needed fillings.

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

While I sincerely wish this were true, unless the commission can expedite the build, completion isn't expected until 2017. Councilor Ron Moeser posed a bunch of questions to the TTC, which were posted on Karen Stintz' web site. What is the scheduled completion date for Sheppard LRT if we were...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Push Councilor Moeser to advocate for an extension to Meadowvale as part of the city's new found love for incremental transit improvement. Meadowvale after all was originally conceived as the terminus for the SELRT.
  16. Q

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Dean Park Rd to Conlins is 800 metres. Dean Park Rd to Kennedy (where the subway would have veered south) is 9km.
  17. Q

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

More misinformation. People living east of Rouge River Drive will have two options. Given the SRT will be rebuilt and extended to Sheppard, they will be able to either take the SRT continuously to Yonge (as it will be interlined with Eglinton) or take the SELRT across to Don Mills.
  18. Q

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

The SELRT is back on a 24-19 vote by council. Yeah!

    Toronto Yorkdale Shopping Centre | ?m | ?s | Oxford Properties | MMC Architecture

Looks like a good spot for an underground parking lot connecting the two shopping locations.

That is a big difference. Perhaps if there were only to be one more subway stop at Consumers or Settlers Rd. it might make sense. Straight line from Don Mills Station to Consumers is only 1.2 km.
