The painting appears to have finally covered the whole building as of this week and I have to say that now that it's complete it looks way better and more finished than it did before the paint job.

One has to wonder how Philippe Starck will feel having his name attached to what is suddenly shaping up to be a frighteningly poorly finished buidling. I would have thought he would have had some assurances in his contract as to the finished quality of the exterior that his name would be on.

It's very disappointing. The new paint looks absolutely horrible from up close in person. I can't believe that Freed would have settled for this as a final finish on a very design oriented building.

I also heard the hanging lights are out. I hope they replace them with some alternate lighting. FYI - there's a facebook group now for this project - its called "75 Portland Condominium Buyers" . It only has a few members now but will hopefully grow as the building starts getting occupied.

First occupancies are scheduled for March 8th - apparently these are on track and on time. The highest floors are currently scheduled to be occupied in June.

My new closing date isn't till early June. That's almost 3 full years since construction began - very, very slow for a building of this size.

It only appears that way because the lower floors have white drywall installed while the upper floors still only have darker concrete behind the glass.

The inside scoop I heard on this was architects are now saucier perrotte and that the hotel is likely to be a Mondrian hotel by Morgans group.

They were busy digging on the site today with the above excavator.

Why don't you move using PODS? Best way to do it if you need short term storage between two places.

I also hoped it wasn't true about the keg when I heard that. It doesn't seem at all in line with the image of this hotel... although the source was fairly reliable so I guess we'll see.

Not so - there are three retail spots in 550 wellington as far as I know and this web site only mentions one being available. Last I heard a Keg was going in as one of the tenants...

The concrete will be coated in a white seamless epoxy finish. Heard that directly from the construction manager.
