    Toronto Queen & Portland Loft & Condominium Residences | ?m | 9s | Tribute | Turner Fleischer

I am very interested in seeing a clear rendering of this project. It could end up being very positive for the area. Sounds like they are going to try to blend in with the Queen Street frontage. On a side note the stores lost to the fire, sounds like they are facing an uphill battle after...

    Queen W & Portland fire

I was on the Danforth today (near Chester) and noticed a couple nice buildings that did not look like they were too old, that would fit in nice in the Queen Portland block. They were two stories, and the brickwork would fit in nice with the Queen area. On a side note, does anyone know if the...

Does anyone know if there is going to be retail at the street level??

Dukes Cycle update Was just checking the Dukes Cycle website for any new info and they have a update posted: "We're very happy to announce that we have settled on some new retail space and with luck, we'll have the doors open on April 1, 2008. And yes... we're still in the...

Revue Cinema facade to be rebuilt

Thats great news!!!! The Revue is a gem, I love that section of Roncessvalles, where the theatre is located, as it has old shops on both sides of the street, go another block south and all the shops are only on the east side of the street. I definitely will go to the open house.

I hope the city keeps it word and streamlines the process of rebuilding the area, providing that what is proposed for the area is good. Hopefully in the near future there will be some proposals and renderings coming forward.

The Fram development? Is that on the south side of Lakeshore as you are entering Port Credit? If so I think I know the buildings you mean. I have to go check them out again. Sorry I am not familar with Clewes. Is that a developer?

Does anyone know of any recently built 2 or 3 story commercial buildings in the city that would fit in well with the streetscape on Queen West?

    Queen W & Portland fire

I hope there is some news in the near future of re-construction on the site. I check the Dukes Cycle site regularly and they have found a new location in the area, would be great to see them return to a new building on the same site as well as the other businesses that were on the block. Hope...

Same here, are they still investigating the cause of the fire or has the cleanup begun?? Is the Queen car still diverted?

    Queen W & Portland fire

As far as the redevelopment of this block is concerned, it would have been more tragic if the buildings next to the parking lot had been destroyed too. As least there is still some of the old buildings between the gap that will now exist. I am hoping that will put pressure on whoever...

Those are my thoughts exactly, I shudder when thinking of a Home Depot going in that area. This council has to start getting tough when developers want to move into these so called designated areas, because whatever rules they have made out, they dont seem to have any teeth to them.

As much as it is great to see all the highrise projects coming down the pipe, I hope it does not take years and years to redevelop this area. I have a far greater appreciation for the older buildings that are still in the downtown area than I used to, as I can see now how they make up the...

    Old building south of Sams

I am sure there are, I just always found that building very unique and it would be a shame if it was lost

    Old building south of Sams

I just hope it never suffers a fate like the old townhouses on Shuter a few months ago.....It has to be the oldest building on Yonge in that immediate area. If you go past The Hard Rock Cafe there is another very old building, just a few doors down that seems be having some work done to it...

    Old building south of Sams

If it could somehow be restored, it sure would provide a nice contrast to Metropolis. almost makes the block into a kind of Time Machine. Its surprising the brickwork is still holding up. After going to New York it starts to make you really appreciate what old building stock we still have in...

    Old building south of Sams

It looks like it dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Anyone know the history behind it?? It seems all the buildings around that area are so nondescript and then there is this one from a whole different era literally crumbling by the day...

    Old building south of Sams

Just wondered if anyone knows who owns or if there are plans for the old brick building that is south of Sams on Yonge St. This is one building that should have Historical Status (maybe it does, I dont know) but man it would be great if it could be restored. It seems forever it has been occupied...

Toronto St Regis Toronto Hotel and Residences | 281.93m | 58s | JFC Capital | Zeidler

It would be great to sit at the Tim Hortons across from the Bay Adelaide and watch the two of these towers come to life, for so many years never thought it was going to happen, great news....

Walnut Hall: Historic building dies of neglect

One of those houses would have been perfect for a museum on early life in Toronto....much the same as the Tenement Museum in New York City...went there on our last trip to New York and loved it.... I dont know why this city can't get its shit together to not allow stuff like this to happen...
