    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I think this makes sense but wonder how much time and money will it take to add the bollards/pillars to the intersections? I think ideally option 4 would be best for transit, but that may mean they will have to remove the bike lanes from Adelaide/Richmond as a compromise. Option 3 may work...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Yeah, I liked Tory because I too wanted to see if the government can explore how to make better use of the rail corridors. I was willing to accept that SmartTrack as its own entity was not going to be a thing, but if it means adding a few more stops in Toronto and increasing the frequency of...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Yup. The station at Weston is already there (probably have to reconfig it a bit). Once Eglinton Crosstown is built, the UPX should really stop there instead of Weston, so it is basically swapping the UPX station to a GO RER/SmartTrack stop. Shouldn't cost that much time and money to do, yet...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I wonder what the possibility is for GO/Smarttrack to go up to Weston station, and replace Weston with Mt Dennis for the UPX. Makes sense IMO since UPX should stop at interchanges, while GO/SmartTrack should serve more local rides.

Awesome, thanks. Yes, the main station of interest for me is Finch East (I think that station should stay). Would be interesting to see what will happen to the Ellesemere and Lawrence stops if Toronto/Metrolinx does revisit routing the Scarborough subway back onto the SRT route.

Thanks for sharing. Any other interesting information that came out of the meeting? Are they leaning more towards Option C or D at this point? I rather see a few more additional stations personally.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

This is still the subway - no? Just not underground. People will manage for the 3 year or so period. Short term pain for long term gain.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

This to me is a no brainer. Saves costs, serves more passengers, no one's house has to be taken. So long as that bend is doable, this should be the replacement. Ellesmere is a ghost station most of the time, SmartTrack/GO RER can just bypass that stop too if they want to save money.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I think Option C is needed if they are indeed moving towards the Scarborough Subway being only 1 stop. The SRT corridor will be cleared for the GO tracks, and Scarborough may be fighting for more stations. I personally think the Finch and Lawrence stations are needed, but perhaps they can...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Kennedy west of the GO Tracks is 3 lanes each, but there is a big bottle neck east of that area because of Pacific Mall and lanes going down to 2. More importantly, they are going to construct a bridge for the GO train I believe as part of the infrastructure to do GO RER/SmartTrack

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

Curious when are we going to learn more about what the City plans to do with the King St corridor, especially if they are adding even more streetcar routes to this already busy artery.

Yeah, Ontario is usually a Liberal stronghold, so it will take a lot to dethrone them. Notice the Liberals are doing all these unfavorable things like Cap and Trade tax and selling Hydro One right now. They won't doing this come 2017 and leading up to the election in 2018 - general voters have...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Yeah it was a news article by Globe and Mail I believe where they were looking at the possibility of SmartTrack Phase 1 going from Kennedy st to Mt Dennis. However, that doesn't really seem to be the case based on the recent Metrolinx presentation. It looks like they are studying the merger of...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I think the Ellesmere stop can be removed, but speaking from strictly riding the SRT from time to time, the Lawrence stop does have quite a few passengers that get on and off.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

IMO it will be either Option B or C - there has to be a trade off for losing all the Scarborough Subway stations, so it only makes sense to add at least Lawrence station onto the route. The space is there after all (once they tear down the SRT stations).

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

IMO Option C makes the most sense, especially if they are going with the cheap Scarborough Subway route. Finch and Lawrence are fairly busy routes in Scarborough.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Yes, I do believe UPX should be rolled into SmartTrack. It will take a few years before Metrolinx will allow this though (mainly to save face), but it is the only efficient way of doing it, and there is pressure from certain groups to convert UPX back to more local transit. Not sure once they...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

If the Scarborough Subway does end up going from Kennedy to STC, then shouldn't SmartTrack at least go up to Sheppard Ave to make up for the lost stations? Once the SRT is gone, there will be plenty of room to add one or even 2 more tracks in that corridor. SmartTrack can just use the space of...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Really, I still hope that one day in the next few years Metrolinx will just give up on UPX and merge it with SmartTrack. The track and extension is already there. There are concerns about the train size, maybe modify the 3 car sets to hold more passengers? Kennedy to Pearson Airport every 10...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

If they do go ahead with this, wonder if SmartTrack should seriously consider adding a stop at Cherry St where the King Streetcar loop is. Will serve as a good connector for those who want to get off SmartTrack to use the King ROW streetcar.
