Just got a call from the 'design center'. Time to find how much they're going to overcharge on upgrades soon.

Thanks for the responses... I really need to lookup wiki to see how these cranes work.

    Toronto X The Condominium | ?m | 44s | Great Gulf | a—A

This might sound like a dumb question, -but Im going to ask anyway. From looking at the pictures, it's obvious that the crane is going through the floor of the same unit on every floor (I believe this is the Breuer suite?). From reading around it seems like builders start finishing off...

agreed on the posts above. I'd be thrilled to be in a situation like that. The less phantom rent the better.

my bad... you're right, 8th floor not 9th. I was looking from the west side and assumed the floor above that outdoor pool was the 3rd and not the 2nd.

    Condo Upgrades

what is that? I thought all appliances were slide-in? Or does slide-in mean 'built-in'?

    Toronto X The Condominium | ?m | 44s | Great Gulf | a—A

no pictures, -but they're currently working on the 9th floor now. Given a week a floor, and then factoring in some bad weather/winter, this should top out around April/May? next year. Im guessing a late summer or early fall for people moving in the lower floors is a good estimation (best case...

my bad... I just re-read the your post (initially thought you confirmed Granny's guess of Cresford).

    Toronto Charlie Condos | 122.83m | 36s | Great Gulf | Diamond Schmitt

2011 is possible. Im keeping a close eye on Casa and whether it'll be move in ready by the end of this year. While the 2 projects arent exactly the same, they are pretty much on the same scale. And X is slightly ahead of where Casa was this time last year.

    Toronto Charlie Condos | 122.83m | 36s | Great Gulf | Diamond Schmitt

I think 2012 would be an optimistic goal, given that X wont be done until Q2 2010 (most likely move-in ready in Q3 2010). If they start excavation late this year or early next year, Im thinking Charlie would be late 2012 / early 2013?

    Affordability

Just out of curiosity, has anyone looked at the case-schiller for NY, Boston, Chicago, or even Portland? (rather than the entire composite?) Just wondering there have been major drops seeing as there is usually a typical lag between the two countries, and also taking into consideration that...

    Toronto X The Condominium | ?m | 44s | Great Gulf | a—A

is that right? Casa is 47stories versus X @ 44?

So, um, when are condo prices supposed to drop again?

Thanks for the response... but Im probably missing something, because I always thought: n = number of months/periods Rent Scenario $1600 * n --> at the end of scenario, you're left with $1600*n in total dollars spent Buy Scenario $1700 * n --> at the end of scenario, you're left...

whatever floats your boat I guess. I like it. You cant have a city full of concrete, brick, or glass towers. X brings a unique a different building to the area.

So, um, when are condo prices supposed to drop again?

I've seen the debate that compares the monthly costs for owning vs. renting (the $1700 vs $1600 example you have above)... But shouldnt you also factor in that after the 5 or 10 years (or whatever), you will get $X back when you own the property vs. $0 when renting?
