TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I'm not sure I get your point, could you clarify?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

509 ridership always looks really low to me. Wouldn't it make more sense to loop 509 at Spadina, and run 510 all the way to Union?

Yes, it seems like they still don't get it. They've got to start managing a commuter service now. As a dedicated airport-only train, UP is OVER.

Don Valley Gondola (Broadview Stn to Evergreen Brick Works)

How about down Bremner Blvd. and past the Aquarium - so people can literally jump the shark?

I guess that's a debate we won't be having anymore! $9 from Union, $5.02 from Bloor! Surely this will fill the trains, right? (And more than double the revenue compared to today, come to think of it.) Good move, Metrolinx.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Yes it was. And oddly though they run 3 frequency scenarios there's no sensitivity analysis on fares at all. I guess TTC fare is a sure thing then.

But it never was. Lavalin walked away from the P3 because it never made sense, but McGuinty and his team pressed on. Metrolinx's own consultant reports strongly hinted that the ridership forecasts were fantasy, but still they pressed on. And they handed Metrolinx the unlimited chequing account...

Roads: Illumination of the Bloor Viaduct

It's been filed under "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".

Are there now any valid transfers to vehicles without Presto readers? Will there ever be?

Roads: Illumination of the Bloor Viaduct

Does it look any less underwhelming now?

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Hardly the same frequencies with GO today. And frequency matters a lot if it's a choice between TTC and UPE on that route. But sure the market for just this service is quite limited (is it 750 pphpd or more, or less? it hardly matters). For RER/ST to be used it needs fare integration and...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I do think so. I'm a bit vague on the numbers, but UPX capacity today is just 750 per hour right? With 28000+ using Dundas West every day, I can easily believe that a $5 fare would find 750 people at the peak hour in afternoon who wanted to travel from Union to Bloor. I mean, if not, then what...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I strongly favour this, but I think they'll have to cut the airport fare too. Who will pay $19 with luggage, when their chance of getting a seat between Union and Bloor (Weston?) will be basically nil?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Not odd at all. When they invent a computer that can do MY job, I'll probably try to convince people it sucks too.

Don Valley Gondola (Broadview Stn to Evergreen Brick Works)

This guy has been pushing these projects for quite some time. I really like this version - small simple and filing an undeniable (small) gap. Good for him! Now, the cynic in me says this is a Trojan horse to get public funding for the commuter line he wants to build from Thorncliffe all the...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

“This is a ghost train. There’s more riders on the Dufferin bus every day and they don’t have their own marketing department.” That's the problem It's not enough to cut fares, they're going to have to cut operating costs too. Even if these trains were full all the time it would be costing...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Oops, I must have it confused with another, pre-production car that has already been shipped back? Or I just so wanted it to be a new sighting that I imagined it all, maybe. :)

I swear I saw 4401 on Bathurst yesterday, signed Not in Service. Is this news?

    Toronto In Art

I think you're right: that is the curved SE corner of the Temple Building at the left of the image. In the middle ground is rear of the two-story Georgian commercial building at the SW corner of Bay and Richmond. Along the skyline at the right of the image, we are probably looking at the cornice...
