    Toronto X2 Condominiums | 160.93m | 49s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

The roof-line looks horrendous! It looks like cheap glass with a cheap steel frame which they just slopped on top of the building. You can quite easily see the mechanical boxes and equipment. It's the same with The Four Seasons. Do they think we're blind? Took these 30 minutes...

Hey, you're right. And yes, I think a lot of architects make their buildings look "what is futuristic in that certain year". And by that I mean, if they design a building in 2006, they design it in accordance with what the future looked like in 2006 to them. Unfortunately, that is only trendy...

    Toronto Pinnacle on Adelaide | 144.47m | 46s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

It's difficult to see the roof from any renderings. Is this another case of an ugly, protruding mechanical box? I hope not.

TCHC: West Don Lands Affordable Housing (589 King St E, 2x 4 + 8s, Core Architects)

Hey, it's funny because I am usually the one ranting about how grey everything being built is. The term that I use is "Futuristic Factories", because they look like what factories in the future might look like. However, I find this entire area to be a fantastic addition, and really, by no...

    Toronto River City Condos Phases 1 & 2 | ?m | 16s | Urban Capital | ZAS Architects

Great, thanks for the heads up. I will from now on.

    Toronto River City Condos Phases 1 & 2 | ?m | 16s | Urban Capital | ZAS Architects

Thanks for the thread link! And ha, yes, I should have been clearer. The renderings for Phase 3 look great, and judging by how close phase 1 turned out to be to the renderings, I think we're in for a winner once it's built.

    Toronto River City Condos Phases 1 & 2 | ?m | 16s | Urban Capital | ZAS Architects

These have turned out tremendously, I really am impressed so far by everything in this area. River City, all three phases look great, and the 1st phase looks just as good as the renderings promised. Please excuse me if this is the wrong thread, as I can't figure out if the rental units West...

Toronto The Globe and Mail Centre | 83.21m | 17s | First Gulf | Diamond Schmitt

This thing looks pretty tacky. The rendering does at least. I'm sure the building will look a lot more dull and drab. I predict that this will be looked upon in the future as a mistake.

I'm with you. Take a look at XCondos and Couture, the futuristic factory right to the north of it. Same idea. Just blandness. Having said that, there are lots of new, glass condos going up that are quite attractive. Unfortunately, there will always be builders and architects who have no...

    Toronto The Yorkville Condominiums | 104.54m | 31s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

The building looks stunning except for the roofline. I would have thought they could have hid the mechanical box a little better than the old right-angle wrap-around....

    Toronto Residences at the RCMI Condos | 134.72m | 42s | Tribute | Zeidler

I could have sworn this was going to turn out badly. However, I'm happily realizing I was wrong. It's turned out quite well. Is it just me, or does it have a feeling of Art-Deco, with those thick lines every ten or so stories on the south side?

    Toronto Peter Street Condominiums | 129.84m | 40s | CentreCourt | a—A

Just be happy it's brick and not precast or glass panels or metal sheeting. As much as I agree with you, I think we should be grateful that it's brick and not something worse.

    Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

With all these curves, it's kind of got an art-deco feel to it. Maybe "Glass-Deco".

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

To be honest, I count more buildings with setbacks and aesthetic rooflines than I do boring boxes in this NYC photo... I'm not sure if this photo helps prove your point.

    Toronto U Condominiums | 183.79m | 56s | Pemberton | a—A

I feel like living in townhomes directly on Bay would be a little intense.

Why not aim for cities that have lively street life AS WELL AS aesthetically pleasing architecture? You make it seem like since Tokyo has a good street vibe, they can build whatever bland buildings they want.

    Toronto L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

Hey, yeah, I'm with you. Mechanical Vents are the bane of my skyscraper enthusiasm. This tower has turned out very well, but I agree, the vents leave something to be desired.

    Toronto Balliol Park | 99m | 30s | Collecdev-Markee | Diamond Schmitt

Fair enough. I just find that a giant box, with protruding balconies, is something a 5-year old could design - Box, balconies, Done! And I think there are extremes of economic concerns. I understand that buildings which are meant to have cheap rent are not going to be made of gold, but I just...

    Toronto TeaHouse 501 Yonge Condominiums | 170.98m | 52s | Lanterra | a—A

What's with the roof line on this one? Glass balconies all the way up and then a giant, precast, 3-story slab as the finishing touch? This thing looks top-heavy to me.
