Colour Me Impressed: the New "old" Tile at St. Andrew Station

I agree. We should use brighter colors in the station, I think it'd make stations look less dingy, and add some spice to it. I don't know why we're stuck with those light boring colors.

Eglinton LRT- Skytrain Beams Vs. Median Right-of-Way

That was an oversight, but I agree. Most TC lines could probably be BRT and would probably be better since you'd be able to branch it out. However, in the context of Eglinton, a exclusive railway corridor would probably be needed. Also, I don't know why there is a Toronto stigma on elevated...

Eglinton LRT- Skytrain Beams Vs. Median Right-of-Way

Toronto needs to evaluate mode types by not only capacity, but speed, and the range that they expect passengers to use the service also. I think these are how the modes boil down: Bus - Low capacity, low speed, local LRT/Streetcar (On-Street) - Mid capacity, low speed, local LRT/Streetcar...

Eglinton LRT- Skytrain Beams Vs. Median Right-of-Way

If we're going for the cheap route, on the Eglinton line, a good idea following other LRT systems would be to: - Reduce the number of minor intersections - Dive under major intersections - And, railway gate the intersections where we can't avoid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee93yveCDGM)...

    Fate of the SRT

Is a grade separate LRT/mid capacity system really more expensive than subways? If so, why would Vancouver and Hong Kong be building these systems (Canada Line/South Island Line). If it is though, i still think making it grade separate is a good common ground between having a full blown...

    Fate of the SRT

and the advantage of slower speeds... I think most people on these forums who are against LRT is because of its speeds being not grade-separated. Having it be grade-separated / LRT = cheaper than subway but as fast = win-win. If only the rest of transit city followed suit.

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

I don't think anything that is not grade-separated should be on the map since the map shows routes for mid to long distance travel, not local routes that stop at red lights. Also, there would just be too many stations on the map. Although we could follow Hong Kong's example of putting LRT on...

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

man those canada line stations are so clean and nice. we seriously need to start lookng into cleaner, nicer designs like that. look at that ceiling!

Colour Me Impressed: the New "old" Tile at St. Andrew Station

I think the TTC really needs to think of doing something about those ceilings, even with the old slats or tiles, the station would look good if the ceilings were cleaner and the lighting was better. Installing those sheppard-style platform edge sign would give another good visual distraction too...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I don't get why people don't get the fundamental difference between LRT as Toronto runs it (at grade, stopping at lights) and Subways/grade seperated LRTs. Our at grade LRTs are great for going short distances like a bus with more capacity, it should not be considered as a replacement for...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

go transit needs to really look at making its system less union station-focused. perhaps when REX is implemented on georgetown line, the milton line and seaton line can become one thru midtown toronto and passengers would have to transfer at bloor for the georgetown line to go down to union. go...

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Here's a picture I found of the front of the Toronto car. Does anyone know when delivery is supposed to be? It says "late 2009" that seems to be soon.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Here's my idea of combining the Spadina extension with the Sheppard subway which may help construction costs (4 car train stations) and also prevent the YUS line from getting too long.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I've been lurking for a while, so i thought i should indulge. How about the following option for the Spadina Extension. Making it an extension of the Sheppard Subway instead of the YUS line. This would prevent the line from getting too long, making it more manageable, it might lower cost since...
