GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Not maintaining and upgrading infrastructure until it becomes decrepit and "heritage" and can't be replaced = money savings everywhere. Even with keeping the old train shed, they could still make it attractive by putting in fake ceilings and pumping a lot of light underneath the shed like...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Isn't the 403 Transitway a "Metrolinx" project more than a Mississauga project? If so, I can see it being less of a problem running it to Black Creek with GO busses. Also, it's interesting they even talked about it on council - since I don't expect Mississauga to be paying for the Toronto...

    Toronto's and Province's New 12.4B Eglinton/SRT/Sheppard Plan

I find it interesting that the Victoria Park station is highlighted for no particular reason? Is it foreshadowing that we're going to get a phased extension to there first with the money from the feds and the leftover from the Eglinton line?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Is there a possibility for extending the Mississauga Transitway over to Black Creek? The BRT would be cheaper than having on-street LRT there and if built to the Transitway standard, would actually provide quicker service to the airport than the on-street LRT would have.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think the plan is for a connection at the Black Creek Station, I'm guessing this station will be a bit more west of Black Creek in order for this to happen/

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Maybe they'll paint the cars to protect from rust. You'd think they anticipate that problem earlier...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's essentially a subway. The Eglinton Subway. If the Sheppard line funding gets in place to be built by 2019, this may be the most subway construction going on in a decade in Toronto history.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Fare by Distance I think this idea being discussed here adds to the argument that here should be Fare by Distance. The subway lines in proposal right now: Sheppard, Eglinton, Yonge North, York University are all pretty far away from the city core meaning trips from the people who take those...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I seriously don't get Toronto's aversion to elevated rail. We have cities like Hong Kong, Miami, Vancouver building their transit above ground - it's cheaper, it doesn't look too bad if proper design is involved, and it's rapid transit.

New Poll Numbers The second number is in line with the poll done earlier in which people would rather have underground LRT/HRT rather than surface LRT. Source: http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20110301/ford-has-approval-poll-110301/20110301?hub=TorontoNewHome

    Transit City Plan

I'm looking at this from a political options perspective. This new transit plan will bring more kilometers to the subway system (including the grade separated LRTs in this term) since the 70s. Yes, it will bring on cost and debt, but looking at it politically - all the fiscal hawks are on...

    Transit City Plan

I don't think taking on debt is an idea that "won't work" as long as there is an appetite for it from the city - they can take on as much debt as they want, whether from private or from public sources. My argument is that now that Ford has given Torontonians an option of a subway on Sheppard...

    Transit City Plan

I don't see how council is going to oppose upgrading Sheppard to a subway line (which was always the plan before Miller scrapped it) while the Eglinton and Scarborough line stays the same. The only thing that is yet to be seen is what will happen to Finch.

    Transit City Plan

The Transit Planned Revealed? Here is a Toronto Star article that is a bit more detailed. So it looks like Sheppard will continue as a subway, Eglinton will continue as an underground LRT line with the surface route still in question, and I would put money the RT is still up in the air.

    Transit City Plan

Not quite sure how the financial arrangements will work, but essentially the city is taking on a liability to pay for the subway line. So Toronto will be taking on debt to put extra money on top of the province's contribution into the new transit plan. Interesting... When will the plan be out...

All the maps Metrolinx has published have the Milton Express terminating at Cooksville though.

    MoveOntario 2020: GO Transit Electrification

The Mississauga numbers are split into two line it appears - the express rail and the crosstown line.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I think these pictures point out something sorely missing from the TTC system (besides high ceilings) which is vibrant colors. I don't think the washroom tile designs would be as bad if we used some brighter colors in the stations to make it less depressing. I think the Queen platform has a...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I feel like many would forget or not know how many zones they're travelling... why don't they just use a tap on, tap off system?

    Toronto TYSSE: Pioneer Village Station | 11.89m | 1s | TTC | aLL Design

Steeles West Design Wow, if it actually turns out like its renders, this station has the potential to turn into one of the most visually interesting stations on the system. Made some screenshots for the lazy people :).
