Yep, still having trouble envisioning how people will leave the VIA Concourse toward the south once they close the ramp down to Union Plaza/ScotiaArena. Will people be required to go through the York or Bay Concourses to the retail "market" area below VIA?

The shops down in the Front St Promenade, especially the south side, need some of our custom. Go browse and see if there’s anything they might have that you want. This week I got well-priced flowers from Union Mercado, arancini and a buckwheat cake from the Biscotteria (not cheap but good) and...

I’ve seen these depictions before of the Great Hall. No sign of the main clock, departure boards or the Travellers’ Aid booth in those set-ups.

I wonder how the people who have been exiting the northeast Great Hall doors to the subway (or to buildings beyond) have been changing their route today to avoid the weather. Some will immediately make a left down the ramp and back into the building.

I’m concerned about that but only have my own anecdotal benchmarks to judge against. Unless they somehow capitalize on helping lost patrons ... it’s going to be a lean six months or so. That said, yesterday I saw patrons in each of Pilot Coffee, Calii Love and the biscotteria. Unless they have...

I and another Union regular probably helped redirect over 300 people in an hour spent in the old Arrivals area this aft. We just stood by the four columns that held the Gateway Newsstand and waited for perplexed faces. Many, many were so used to the old route and some would have bumped into the...

Despite the serious walls it was just recently I heard the plan is to have stairs there again - to Track 3, I presume. Not sure how the cinder blocks help support that theory, so I take this with a big grain of salt...

Won’t they return to being a main route for arriving VIA passengers going to the subway? Not the only option as I reckon there will again be short links from the VIA Concourse to Bay...

Ye olde Leather Shop Bypass: To whit. Opened up quite a bit already.

We'll get our Sidewalk Supervisor folding chairs out and debate what steps should be next while the real workers roll their eyes at us.

Why close the “TD Carriageway”/central moat? To facilitate finishing the north side art and whatever they have planned for the south side? That could be done in two stages, but only once Bay is open cuz this new corridor is pretty busy already.

Coming from the VIA Concourse east side corridor to what is technically the “Arrivals” area you would see walls and hoarding on your right all the way to the stairwell up to the Great Hall. As of Tuesday, hoarding continued on the other side of the stairs until the Biscotteria, which was always...

I could not remember much about the proposed artwork; so here's what I located. UT Article on "central moat"/TD Carriageway art From 2013! [nb: The map refers to this zone as the "Centre Bridge Area"] About the project from the designers: https://www.lab-au.com/flux There is only one image...

I’d like to find that part of the thread- I cannot envision where someone exiting the south end the VIA Concourse would be forced downstairs in order to continue out of the station. Where would the access down to the retail area be located? Maybe someone can indicate on one of the diagrams. By...

I hope we all agree - at least - that it is a cool word. And not to further muddy the waters (never!), it seems there has probably been far more etymological disputes on this file, going all the way back to the damnable Normans: moat (n.) c. 1300, mote - "a mound, a hill" (a sense now...

There are currently about four sets of double doors open to the moat between Amano and the Timmy’s kiosk plus three or four more open between Security and Danish. The diagrams I linked to are most recent I know of, but take a closer look — they appear the opposite of “opened up” - instead much...

Cool. You mean the access to Union that’s between 25 York and ScotiArena, yes? I get that you will be able to go down to the Retail area below the VIA Concourse here, and thence east to Bay Concourse or west to Union Food Court under York, but walk me through this. If the remaining “up ramp”...

Snip: What’s odd is how these doors (between Security and the Danish pastry house] is the plan, supposedly, to turn them into retail… If I’m reading this diagram correctly: From...
