I wasn't aware these developers were considering that particular Imperial-based target as a priority when formulating the project's blueprints. Meeting "supertall" specs may not have really been part of their determination process, by in large. It certainly wasn't for their three-tower proposal.

Feel removed? The CN Tower was the tallest freestanding structure in the world at one point, so there is an intended separation from the skyline. When cities develop a history of architecture, this also includes developing a tradition of building heights. For generations the Canadian National...

As is with Canada's Americanised English habits, Canadians also use American math. For example, I wouldn't describe certain body parts in centimetres. But I agree with your sentiment. I choose metric, mostly.

Let's hope the height is maintained. Industries involved in the arts will benefit from the residential density.

Why would the CN Tower be a greater moderator on proximal infrastructure heights compared to sites located near the waterfront and lowrise neighbourhoods? I support supertalls on Yonge: but for sites located further north. I'll smile when Aura gets comparable company.

Perhaps, but more height may not be likely. I think a height reduction could be possible. The Mirvish-Gehry proposal preserves heritage, and it is also no where near the waterfront. More height in that context is less provocative than One Yonge's location -- which is adjacent to a growing...

    Bravo Toronto!!

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I'm not convinced the city's economics will support a litany of uber-talls in the downtown anytime soon because municipal and provincial governments, over the last decade especially, haven't adequately invested in Toronto's core infrastructure and green space (water and sewer utilities...

verticalvillage: This is amazing! Thank you so much! (I've also felt uneasy about the lack of renderings.) In terms of a design change, I'm hoping for some modifications. Parts of the façade of the taller tower appear torn, which is an artistic intention, I realise; nevertheless, I am...

For me to project the optimism I have for these Mirvish-Gehry towers, I'd say it'd be great to have them completely built in time for Toronto to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. (Maybe I'm just optimistic about Toronto in general?) An Entertainment District with density comparable to the...

Of course Toronto needs more entertainment options, but as far as this proposal revision goes: it is becoming the centre -- ground zero -- of the Entertainment District.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Without renderings, just based on pictures of the physical model, I find this revision to be considerably more drab than the original. But with that said...I just want to express how grateful I am that there is still some form of life to this project. It could still happen. And the theatre...

As someone who wasn't born in Toronto and who hasn't lived in Toronto, let me express to you, as an ordinary Canadian, that the Canadian National Tower is far more than a mere tv tower made of concrete. The CN Tower, for a time, was the tallest building in the world and, today, still is one...

    Toronto Southcore Financial Centre & Delta Toronto | 159.71m | 45s | GWL | KPMB

I also agree. Different building materials and colours would be very appreciated. I wonder how a brick inclusive Sun Life Financial Tower may have impacted (and broken up) the Southcore's localised glass monotony...

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

Given the available renderings and past projects from these particular developers, does anyone believe there's potential for the Harbour Plaza Residences to express a similar quality of 'white' exterior to that of First Canadian Place, adding at least some contrast to this incredible jungle of...

The need to provide a quote is based on my request for it. A refusal would mean Big Daddy's assertion is not universally recognised, because I don't believe Olivia Chow is anti-highrise until I see evidence. That's common sense.

May you provide her quotations and policies that indicate she is anti-highrise, please. Highrise construction, when achieved via LEED standards, is an environmental asset. Olivia Chow is certainly not going to bring about proposals to increase sprawl.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Forgive me, but your seriousness didn't seem obvious. Why do you believe the demolition of the city's early skyscrapers for a new "edgy" stock of more artistically crafted "designer" skyscrapers is a more practical way forward with Toronto's real estate and heritage concerns -- than: focusing...

I would like to explore the examples you've provided, salsa (I'm going to assume for the moment that there is more than one park presented in the above illustrations); and thank you, btw, for posting these pictures. How large are these parks? I've noticed some perspectives that give the...
