So Vancouver has Rogers Arena, which is an arena --- cool. Toronto has Rogers Centre, which is a stadium. But Scotiabank Arena, which is indeed an arena, was also once called a Centre (Air Canada Centre). Edmonton has Rogers Place, which is an arena. Arena is a good and specific description...

    Hamilton FirstOntario Centre Renovations | ?m | 4s | OVG | BBB

I think they are actually calling it the Hamilton Arena until it gets a new corporate name

Speaking of architecture, I did notice that it seems that the revamped arena will be devoid of cornices.

How to deal with these people is to me a legitimate component in the success of this development, and the increasing numbers are noteworthy to me. You can think that it is inhumane to treat these people as a problem, but it is the truth. They are as human as anyone, but nobody wants to go...

I just hope that the HUPEG group and OVG stay the course and help kickstart good momentum back up.

This old barn is going to be the centrepiece attraction in downtown Hamilton in many ways, and will be the main thing bringing both out-of-towners and even in-towners to downtown Hamilton. It will be the focal point of hope and possibility and revival in the Ambitious City. Holy smokes, holy...

Went by here today and it was the most challenging scene I have ever viewed here. Forget the Salvation Army side on the north --- basically the entire length of the arena on York (i.e. the south sidewalk of York directly at the arena) had groups of homeless/junkies, and it also extended east to...

This article eegarding LRT did come out a couple of days ago: https://www.thepublicrecord.ca/2024/07/brief-metrolinx-selects-aecom-as-hamilton-lrt-technical-advisor/

That's good. Mr. Lamb seemed pretty sold on Hamilton. Hopefully he stays that way. LRT, the renovated arena, population growth should all help.

Hopefully Lamb's financing holds up enough so that he can actually finish the Televison City condos. And hopefully he is able to ride things out for a couple of years (maybe more than a couple?) and add the condos/hotel/convention centre he had been planning once things out there start improving...

What is the Brad Lamb thing?

This slightly dated article mentions that the development of over 2000 units in Hamilton has been delayed: https://storeys.com/toronto-hamilton-condos-delayed-urbanation/ I don't know how to get the breakdown, but I assume that this project is part of that number.

    Hamilton 213 King Street West | 94.3m | 30s | Vrancor Development | ZO1

We should all take the LRT past all of the 45 story towers to the renovated Hamilton Arena for a big concert one day (where there will not be a vagrant/junkie in sight).

You mentioned well-dressed. The ultimate version of well-dressed to me is suits. Subtract the suits from the equation and Toronto is still not comparable in any real sense to me. And I do hope you are correct re: the momentum. I have lived in Hamilton on-and-off for my entire life and it has...

    Hamilton King William Urban Rentals | 97.56m | 30s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

We are all speaking the same language and have similar hopes and goals. But, to be clear, one can be not be too good to be around such people, but I can't imagine that anyone actively wants to be in the middle of a place with zombies and people passed out and trash and shopping carts full of...

Good to hear and I am glad that your neighbour count is increasing. Re: the state of downtown, I agree on the chicken-and-egg thing. Yes, there are some decent restaurants and bars, but otherwise there is not a ton of attraction to living there. It needs to have jobs and entertainment and...

    Hamilton King William Urban Rentals | 97.56m | 30s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

Tower A is the one that is currently being rented out. It might not be up to date, but the Web site as it reads now suggests that literally 289 out of 290 units from floors 2 through 30 are available for rent in that tower.

If you go on the Web site, it looks like every suite from floors 2 through 30 is available for rent except for suite 507. Is that what Stec rented? (I don't know if there are first floor rental suites) https://www.thekingwilliamrentals.com/suites

Hopefully this whole thing gets some momentum. If not, there is a decent chance that Hamilton's downtown growth will sputter out for a good while.
