Did a bit of digging this week and it turns out the above comment is correct, the C of A did approve (with a couple of conditions) redevelopment of the site back in late 2005. I spoke with the planner for the district as well, he said there aren't any current redevelopment proposals on file...

I wasn't aware of any proposals or C of A approval for the site you're referring to, if there are any links you could post with the information I'd be interested to have a look at it.

I see that others were aware, just noticed this myself last week when I wandered by.

I don't believe the plan involves the Waddinton's site, just the "Title Textile" building and parking lot. I think the proposal involves demolishing the buildings and then constructing the first few storeys in a similar brick warehouse style with the remaining top floors all glass.

I did attend the meeting, and I don't recall a particularly warm reception for this project as presented (I think mostly based on its sheer size and to an extent the impact it would have on Adelaide Place). I think the Artscape artist lofts component was well received though.

The interior of the 1-storey addition appears mostly gutted at this point (photo from last weekend).

... just back from vacation and noticed the thread. Thanks to 3D for an interesting post. The perimeter is a rough outline, as far as I know the car dealership site is owned by the Globe, but I'm not aware of anything beyond that.

^ I believe 570 King was allowed extra height based on the condition of maintaining and restoring the historically designated building on the King St side. It'll be interesting to see what ultimately gets approved at 560 King since this condition doesn't exist for the site.

I think extending Morrison to King would significantly diminish the redevelopment potential of the 560 King site without adding a great deal of benefit for the block as a whole. From the OMB decision on 570 King St W (paragraph 2 mentions the lane from King to Morrison)...
